Better season/coaching job this season: Rhoads or Hoiberg?

Rhoads beat the #2 and #17 teams in country, played in a bowl game but lost. Hoiberg knocks off Baylor and KU, wins ISUs first tournament game in years but was 1 and done in the Big 12 tournament which ultimately cost ISU an 8 seed. Both did great things but Rhoads did less with more IMO. But both programs are on the way up which is exciting.

Impossible to compare. Coach Rhoads did an outstanding job from a larger disadvantage, but Freddie built a fantastic team from scratch in two years, which is absolutely unreal.

Hoiberg. CPR's was in his 3rd season and finished relatively close to where he has all 3 seasons. Hoiberg finished in the top 3/4 of the B12, although the B12 was much stronger in FB than BB.

Close call, but I'd say Hoiberg.

I know very little about both, but I would say Hoiberg. Seems like faster improvement, more big wins, better seasons.

There's a little apples/oranges here it takes longer to recharge in college football. Rhoads has had 3 seasons, Hoiberg 2 ... which was in more "dire" shape?

FB is a bigger task, as far as turnaround, but Iowa State's slide in basketball has been assessed more harshly (that is, many ISU fans think tournament appearances should happen with some frequency, and bowl appearances are a "bonus.")

I think what Hoiberg did from beginning of season to the end was remarkable. In December, I thought this was an 8-10 Big 12 team. Almost zero duds after conference play started. Win over UConn was fun.

Rhoads notched a remarkable win over OSU, killed Tech and followed it up by Not Losing to Kansas. And we beat Iowa. Exciting moments, some horrible losses.

Had we won our bowl, Rhoads for sure, close call either way...fun year though!

I gotta say Hoiberg. A team that was losing to drake and UNI to start the season took down KU, Baylor, Uconn, and gave UK one hell of a fight.

Not to diminish anything Rhoads has done, theyre both doing fine jobs here.

Agreed, slight edge to Fred with 23 wins, third best effort.

Good question. I'll go with Hoiberg as well even though it's close.

Manage 15 player or 85? You cannot compare.

I would say Hoiberg, although I may be a bit biased (as I really wanted to see ISU basketball get things turned around)

State plucked victory from the jaws of defeat against UNI also and an O.T. win over Iowa... plus the Okie State game.

Fact: It's a GREAT TIME to be a CYCLONE!

Hoiberg and by a large margin. Iowa State football was on solid ground. Basketball program in shambles. Fred has brought the magic back and it's NEVER LEAVING AGAIN!
