    Commentators

    Anyone love that we had Bill Raftery calling the ISU game last night. Seems like he usually does Big East games, or at least big time games. As a long time college bball fan it added even more excitement for the game.

    It was great last night. I love Raftery, but usually Verne L drives me nuts. I thought BOTH did a fantastic job calling the game, and being really fair.

    They missed two obvious things in their research. One, Babb is one of the best defenders in the nation and they didn't even give mention to that, and two Bubu missed almost half the season due to the wrist injury. They had no idea.
    Raftery is very good.

    They had some early love for UCONN which is expected because they were the reigning national champs and had a huge tourney run last year.

    They also did a very good job of changing their tune when ISU came out and popped UCONN in the mouth.

    Overall a pretty well called game by them. I appreciated it.

    The best was when they came back after a break in the first half when ISU was up 36-14 and Verne looked at Raf and just said, "Well....." and they both kind of shrugged their shoulders and shook their heads. Rendering Raf speechless is not an easy accomplishment.

    I would think that the announcers would stay at the same site this weekend? Hopefully, they both do a great job.

    Yeah, the Bubu thing would be tough to figure. He wasn't a starter when he went down so it's pretty tough to follow every player on the team. They focus on the starters (not Railey) a lot more.

    The Babb thing is tough because he didn't get recognized by the conference. If he had been, I'm sure they'd be on it. Babb just doesn't rack up steals or any measurable stats. He just just does his job and his opposition is usually below their average.

    I can forgive them some of the details when they're prepping for eight teams in their pod. I like both as announcers, but wish they could have given ISU a bit more credit instead of talking about UConn playing bad.
