    ISU free throws 19-20

what i have always considered to be one of isu weaknesses this season was a huge advantage for us this game.

early to mid season i would just cringe when we went to the line. i'm sure we are actually pretty good from the line at this point, but it has never felt that way. i sweat it every time we go the the stripe. must be just royce and percy that that make the team seem worse than what we actually are.

AND royce had a make taken away by a line violation!

at one point in the second half they had made 11 free throws and we had taken 3.

I watch very, VERY little basketball...and most of it is in March. My biggest pet peeve though? Teams missing free throws. Drives me nuts.
Last night was actually the first time I'd seen us play all year. I never would have guessed we had struggled with FT earlier....and I definitely loved that we were killing the ones we got!

    Re: ISU free throws 19-20

I think what helped is that RW only shot 4. The games where we have struggled from the line, it seems he will shoot a lot. Hopefully this will be the same against Kentucky because we will need all we can get.

Lundquist and Raftery were puzzled by the lane violation. Looked like about 6 folks were in before Allen. And you see worse violations about every time

Royce and Percy have actually been pretty reliable at the line the last 2 or 3 weeks.

It was the same as the Syracuse game. The guy on the perimeter can't cross the FT line until the ball hits the rim, just like the shooter. The guys in the lane can go once it leaves his hands.

It is nice when you get the right guys at the line. Our guards dont usually get to the li e that much

There are 6 folks that are allowed to be in the lane before Allen on that play.

    Re: ISU free throws 19-20

The FTs were huge and I believe in making them one of your biggest priorities, but, as happy as I was with the 19-20 in FTs, I was 10 times happier about out-rebounding them by 20. That says how much we wanted that game. I thought a huge momentum shift in that game was when Babb kept the rebound alive with a couple tips amongst the trees and Allen ended up with it, got the put back and foul.

    Re: ISU free throws 19-20

Actually, taking the entire scope of the game into consideration, every one of our guys did a pretty good job. Each contributed points. And each played smart and unselfishly. A team victory--a cliche, I know, but appropriate here.

    Re: ISU free throws 19-20

They did a great job of knocking down FT's at the end of the game, but we need to get to the line more during the game.

When we get in the lane, good things happen.

Yeah, I don't know about that.

I have seen games where the offense tries to miss on purpose and sends two guys flying in from the perimeter on the release.

Actually 20-21 taking the March 15 only outside lane violation focus.

When the free throws were 19-3, ISU had drawn more than 3 free throws. It was pretty obvious.

ISU was 20-35 points better than UConn last night to scrape together a double digit lead at the end.

    1) Let's see any clip where they were in the lane before it hit the rim.
    2) Just because it wasn't called, doesn't mean it's not against the rules.
