    Green Bay WBB

    Looking at stats...

They appear to run a 7-player rotation. All 7 can shoot the three, and five do so at a 32% clip or better.

The star is Julie Wojita, a 6-0 wing who shoots 42% behind the arc but does most of her damage inside the arc (only 66 3fga vs 460 total fga). She averages 19.8 ppg. She is their Royce White -- she leads the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, and assists is the only one of those five that's close.

As a team, they have a positive a/to ratio and hold opponents to a horrible 300 to 767 ratio. Some of that is the awfulness of their competition -- only 2 top-50 opponents.

And, as I posted elsewhere, Clay Matthews WON'T be suiting up for this one!

I see they beat Georgia Tech, I think a 4 seed, at a neutral site. They also beat UNI at home by 8. All early in the year.

Who is the other top 50 opponent?

I can't forget the ugly mascot from our previous meeting.

Only one of those seven players stands over 6-0: Stephanie Sension, a 6-3 forward who hasn't started a game and only averages 12 minutes per game. They aren't short in the backcourt -- plenty of 5'11"/ 6'0" types -- but are much more lacking in post height.

But what impresses me, MRed, is that they often beat this awful competition, not by five or ten points, but by fifteen, twenty, or more. We have our hands full.

At home against #49 Eastern Michigan. Their only loss was at home against Detroit (they took 2 of 3 from Detroit this year).

Of their 7-player rotation, 6 played in that 2010 game in Ames. They shouldn't be too intimidated by the crowd.

And Detroit was pushing them in the conference final (on GB's home court) until the DET guard went out with a knee injury in the second half.

Also they should really reconsider chanting "Phoenix" en masse because that is definitely not what it sounds like.

I know it haunt CW's dreams LOL. Can't believe they still have 6 players from the team that played here 2 years ago.

Strange seeding. Green Bay is ranked 10th in both polls, yet only a 7th seed. They are ranked 1 or 2 positions higher than Kentucky a 2 seed. Someone is either not ranked correctly, or not seeded correctly.

Lacey was not fully recovered and we barely escaped - they are a hardworking, talented, well coached team with a good fan following. I met some of their fans in our motel and they seem to be great people, much like ourselves.

Green Bay is also #22 in RPI, which seeds them around a 6, making them even a bit under-seeded there as well. The committee obviously values SOS very highly, as they have in past years as well. As a result, mid-majors tend to get under-seeded.

Per the committee chair on the ESPN chat, the 159 SOS killed their chances of being any higher than a 7.
