Going to the Final Four (next year)

This is sort of off-topic for this year's final four, and for ISU MBB, but I have some questions (Mods, please move to "off topic", if need be).

One of the items on my father's "bucket list" is going to final four. I'd love to that for him. Hopefully, next year (2013) in Atlanta.

How early were you able to book hotels, tickets, etc.? Any advice? I'd appreciate anything!

Should probably be in general college sports but its alright. And hotel you can book whenever they open up, depending on the quality you can book up to 6 months? At least in my area of Northeast Ohio its like that for Hall of Fame weekend.

Tickets go on sale AFTER this tournament I believe. And its an application process, a family friend got denied for 2008 in Detroit but I have no idea what went into the application. Other than that have fun!

It's a ticket lottery, last I knew. Send in your application and $. If you are selected, you get tickets. If not, you get your money back.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Re: Going to the Final Four (next year)

I went to the Final Four in Indianapolis in 2010. It was incredibly fun, even though I had no dog in the fight. That was the Duke, West Virginia, MI State, and Butler year. The Butler story was cool since they are located in Indy. A friend of mine got 2 tickets in the ticket lottery. I bought mine off Razor Gator. It was expensive (I think it was around $500), but it was worth it. I would think you would see tickets pop up on the various ticket web sites as soon as the tickets have been awarded from the lottery process. I entered the lottery a few times several years ago, and never had any luck. As I recall, I sent them a check for the cost, and then they sent it back when I didn't win. I am going to try to go again when it is back in Indianapolis (I think in 2015), or hopefully sooner when our Cyclones make it!

Re: Going to the Final Four (next year)

Awesome! Thanks for the advice, fellas. I will let my mother know about the lottery process, and hopefully we can be in within the next several years.

I'm not counting on the Cyclones being there (but it would be awesome!), we just love college basketball, so it would be fun regardless.
