A look back at previous brackets and the 6 through 9 seed

    2009 Bracket

    http://www.basketball.org/wp-content...aa-bracket.jpg

Of the four 6 seeds, all here high majors. Of the four 7 seeds, all were high majors. Of the eight 8 and 9 seeds, 3 mid majors and 5 high majors.

    2010 Bracket

    2010 men's NCAA tournament bracket - USATODAY.com

Of the 6 seeds, 3 of 4 were high majors. Of the 7 seeds, half were high majors. Of the 8 and 9 seeds, 5 were high majors and 3 were mid majors.

    2011 Bracket

    http://www.nationofblue.com/content/...aa_bracket.png

Of the 6 seeds, 3 were high majors and 1 mid major. Of the 7 seeds, 3 were high majors and 1 mid major. Of the 8 and 9 seeds, it was split with 4 each.

The committee shows a history of rewarding teams from the Power 6 conferences with the 6 and 7 seed. Currently Lunardi has every single 6 and 7 seed given to a mid major. As for the 8 and 9, only 2 mid majors and the rest were Power 6 schools.

Just going by history, some of the 8 and 9 schools are going to be 6 and 7 seeds. It doesn't seem like there has ever been more than 3 high majors taking up the eight spots for a 6 or 7 seed.

bottom line is id rather be a 10 then an 8-9. 7 seed could just as well flip with a 10. so 7 or 10, who cares as long as we aren't an 8-9.

That was my point. Iowa State has a resume similar to some 5, 6 and 7 seeds. I think we have a great shot to not be in the 8/9 game.
