Is it too early for grass seed?

I have several areas in my lawn that needs seeding. In looking at the forecast for the next several days, it looks as though temps will be in the 70's with lows in the 50's. It also looks like some precipitation couLd happen within that time frame. My question is do you see any problems if I start this project today?

I've put it down right before the first snow in the fall before. It should be fine. Just don't use crabgrass preventer.

Not sure if soil temps will be high enough for germination, so don't be surprised if nothing happens right away. As long as you work it into the soil I would think you'll be ok though once the soil does warm up. Just don't leave it sitting where the birds will eat it.

How can you think about anything other than NCAA seed right now?

skunk weed and similar hardy breeds will be ok if you plant now ........... the others you may want to start under lights in the basement

Just make sure it's in the ground or under some thatch or it will wash away with the first rain. Aeration or actual seeding will help.
