Subject: Question for the elected officials of all 50 states
    Date: Tue, 16 Oct 2007 09:16:21 -0500

I have a question for the elected officials of all 50 states.

Like a lot of folks, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as they see fit. In order for me to get that paycheck I’m required to pass a random drug urine test, which I have no problem with.

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a random drug urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check, because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone who might be using my money for drugs.

Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I think we should enact this tomorrow, if not today.

I've never taken a drug test for any of my jobs...but I understand what you're saying.

I have taken a drug test at about every job I have had. I don't want them to be drug tested. That would make there Fat azz get off the couch and have to do something. I would not want for that to happen.

I have never had to take a drug test at any job and I still think this is brilliant!

Other than the obvious, immediate savings from not paying benefits to a large fraction of current recipients, what effect do you think this would have?

This is obviously a good idea. Do you think that liberals in Congress would ever support something like this? Again, a good idea goes by the wayside.

I am in absolute total agreement with this. It makes sense at every level that I can think of. However, liberals will never go for it. They see drug users as victims.

Oops, you guys used the word “liberal”. This has now officially become a political thread and should be banished to the cave

That's a no-brainer. In no particular order, an increase in.....

    Purse snatchings
    Muggings
    Hosue burglaries
    Car Jackings
    C-Store robberies
    Drug dealing
    Shoplifting
    Prison costs

Anyone got any more brilliant legislative proposals?

Ahhh, so our welfare distributions are actually pay-offs to keep people in line? How's that working out for ya?

Ah, I get your point - we cut off their welfare, force them into criminal activity, arrest them, send them to jail, and then we're spending our tax dollars on them anyway, this time so they can live in a minimum security resort.

In other words, we're screwed if we do and screwed if we don't...

Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Exactly. And while the system is too complex to do any type of exact calculation, I find it very plausible that if we cut off walfare checks to drug-abusing losers, we (taxpayers) will end up paying much more.

Unless we ship them off to Joe Arapio, who will have them wearing pink jumpsuits and skivvies, eating green bologna sandwiches, and working in chain gangs on civic projects. In this case, us citizens could get quite a deal out of this one (of course, we all know what the ACLU thinks about Joe Arapio - he's violating prisoners' civil rights with his actions - whatever)

If I read this correctly, the government would be responsible for the increases in crimes? What happened to people being responsible for themselves? Are we suppose to keep giving drug addicts money so thatthey can stay on the horse?
