Twister Sister Summary - strange day in KC

With all the other writer ups on this ill just post a few thoughts and leave it at that.

    1. Again the officiating was not good. A major lack of consistency and blown calls hurt this game. As I watched the Baylor game after, I saw the same thing. What is it with Big 12 women's officials?

    2. A mentioned, the post play was missing in action. Pop never found her rhythm, Prins looked amazingly slow, and Big C disappeared for most of the game. missed layups and bunnies plagued these ladies today. Ouch!

    3. Childs has one of the sweetest shots and some great moves around the post. She embarrassed anyone who tried to guard her.

4.Moody was amazing most of the game. Still made some bad unforced errors, but she played with a purpose and passion I've not seen in her. She looked mad! 1 1/2 thumbs up to her. She IS the future leader of our team.

    5. A it has been the past three years, our offense was in a game of four on five. We don't win without a defensive stopper like Cole on the floor, but sometimes it hurts us just as much on the offensive end. I hope we find another stopper like Chas, but with offensive skills.

    6. There seemed to be too many times in the second half when we would block out to get a rebound and then wait for the ball to come to us. When we did, K-State would swoop in and take the ball. This limited us several times when we clearly should have grabbed the ball and thus lost an opportunity.

    7. The mentioned scoring droughts. Ouch and double ouch.

    8. Loz played her heart out today. Great time for her folks to be here!

    9. The crowd was the best I've seen in the past couple of years for this tournament. Just too bad for all involved that it was a one and done affair.

Time to get ready for the NCAAs. First off...I'm so tired of those who question whether this team deserves a bid or not. They do. Let's pack Hilton to support them as they most likely will be playing a pretty good opponent. They will need our support for at least one more go around.

If you go back through your writeups (and if you happen to watch the games), this issue comes up over and over again...and not just this year.

What can ISU do to fix this? Somehow they need to correct this. Too many easy points are lost.

I assumed that was just a girls basketball thing.

Can people please understand - they are not Big 12 Officials. College basketball officials can ref games in any conference they so choose, they are not assigned to one conference. Most of the officials her were doing games in the Big 10 and Big East over the past week.

We have to quit using the lack of calls as an excuse - good teams play through this and win.

That is true EXCEPT they are under contract with the Big 12 and the same officials oversee conference games. In any case, they are not good.

I assumed that posters who have avatars for soccer teams don't have much room for criticism of womens basketball, which has more contact.

Hats off to the guards who played sensationally. Wish I could say the same for the rest of the team. Tip of the hat to Childs who, in my opinion, was terrific - where was she in the game at Ames - wherever, I'm glad as she was complete domination yesterday? Wouldn't it be nice to have a talent like her?

Hats off to the faithful huge Cylcone fan following. I won't likely attend any of the other games, but it's so obvious that ISU fans make this KC thing successful.

Your point about the refs is well taken; teams need to play through and also adjust to the way the refs are calling the game.

Griner dropped 45 on KSU today, Mulkey is going to make sure she runs the score up in everything they have left.
