    Would you sell everything?

This is a girl I went to HS with. Curious what everyone thinks of this.
Basically she and her husband (early 30's) sold everything they owned, bought an RV, and are in the midst of spending a year travelling all over the country with their 2 kids. They decided to do it when they were young and could all enjoy it.

At first I thought they were pretty crazy, but have to admit, as a father of 3 girls who seem to be growing up way too fast, I am getting a little envious of some of their experiences.

Traveling all over the country in an RV is an old person thing to do. When I get old I am buying an RV and traveling all over the country going to college football games and seeing all the stadiums I have wanted to watch a game at. With my Iowa State gear on. But no. She needs to get a life and raise her kids.

Sounds like a great experience. I knew a couple who did that, except they sailed around the world, and didn't have children. Amazing stories.

Get a life? She will have much greater life experiences doing this than she would have spending the year the "normal" way.

No. Be interesting to see how rough it is when they get back to the real world.

I wouldn't do that, but I did give up a nice lucrative career in corporate to farm. I strictly did this to have flexible, and more, time to spend with my two, now three, kids.

    Re: Would you sell everything?

I thought about taking an extended sabbatical from work and traveling the country. Just me, my truck and some camping gear. Still has a lot of appeal. The problem is getting back into this business after a leave of abscence.

Really? Because I road in my parents RV to Florida one time and I hated riding in a damn RV half way across the country to go to disney world we told my dad we were done riding in his stupid RV for ever. Riding in an RV sucks as a kid. Also No kid wants to see the boring sights of America. They don't understand it and don't appreciate it. Nor will they give a rip about it.
