34 Student Tickets Offered to the Dance

I got an email today from the ticket office informing me that only 34 tickets will go on sale for students headed to the NCAA tournament. 34. Let me say it one more time. 34. We have a student population of 30,000 and they give out 34 tickets. Are they serious?! College basketball is meant to be for COLLEGE STUDENTS. Its amazing how fast people forget that when there is a buck to be made.

What they ought to do is offer a lot more student tickets but only sell them up until a certain date, then they can sell them as regular tickets. That way they don't have to worry about getting burned if not many students want to go. But unfortunately that now how people think so now I'm forced to pay out the @$$ for tickets through the site.

Re: 34 Student Tickets Offered to the Dance

ISU didnt exactly get many tickets period in its allotment. Most of the general public wont even have a shot at any of the allotment, unless theyre a very high level donor. Plus, how many students of those 30k are likely to have cash on hand to make a trip across the country on a whim?

If you really want to go and can afford it, there are other places to get tickets.

Did you read how many they get in general? Not very many. Players/Families are first priority.

    Quit whining.

And exactly how much money does ISU make off of selling these tickets? Doesn't the money go the NCAA?

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

Student % of the allotment made available to the public is same as student % for home games in hilton. Nothing to get upset about.

Re: 34 Student Tickets Offered to the Dance

Thats what I'm saying. The fact that ISU was only allotted that many tickets is the problem. There is a problem with the system. And you guys are saying that you don't think that if we play in omaha we could find 250 students that would go?

Not when they see what it costs to get tickets.

But seriously, who cares? They still sell tickets. You just have to get them through the host.

Re: 34 Student Tickets Offered to the Dance

I still plan to buy tickets, but unless I'm willing to pay five hundred dollars a ticket, I'm going to be sitting with my friends in the upper deck, spread way out from any other ISU students.

I thought you seemed excessively whiny, then I saw you're from Minnesota and it all made sense.

Get over it. You're not special, we (as Cyclone fans) are not special. We're not getting any less than anyone else. Go buy a single session ticket off of someone and enjoy the Cyclone victory. That's the way it works. Quit whining about it.

Did ISU get less tickets than other schools? The article states small allotment, yet they don't say what the norm is.
