    Re: Chizik...a spin-doctor? huh?

A true spin doctor won't admit that he's spinning something, no matter how obvious it is. I'm confident that Chizik will recruit well, and I like his honesty about it.

    Re: Chizik...a spin-doctor? huh?

Being honest about it is better than lying to them. We've already got players who quit early on the field, do we want more that will quit early because they feel like theyve been lied to?

    Re: Chizik...a spin-doctor? huh?

Actually a true spin doctor in our case is only making Ames Iowa seem like an option - when everything is shouting IT'S NOT. The only "spin" is selling a kid on a program that has sucked for the lion's share of a century. Spinning that it's a good place to come play. If you have a good prospect it's not spinning saying "you'll play right away" in Iowa State's case. It is more a "reality of the situation."

    Re: Chizik...a spin-doctor? huh?

Top 40? That's a beginning, but, only a beginning - we need to do better. It will still require superior coaching to win - we're in a conference with 8-10 teams in or near the top 40 - everyone trying to do what we're trying to do - and with a head start.

“We’ve got a pretty good football conference, and we’ve got a pretty good conference overall. We’re still walking around with our heads held high and our chest out, about that.” Paul Rhoads

Just trying to tell it like it is. You'll get no spin from me either. We can't lean on all the Conference titles we have, bowl game streaks, bowl game wins, BCS bowls, Top 25 finishes, etc, etc. Sh*#, do you realize that Shaggy's game winning kick against Iowa this year was just our 2nd game winning kick EVER! This according to the FSN telecast. So what do we have? Immediate playing time for kids talented enough to come get it. That's about it. Oh, and apparently an occasional trip to the Nevada Public Pool. No where in my post did I say it won't work.

We will never have a top 20 recruiting class and we have been getting 50-60... Top 40 would be a HUGE step...

Funny thing is I can remember at least 4 game winning FG's that the Clones didn't make, and it isn't that long ago.

I shouldn't have to say this but it was the second EVER MADE to win a game at Iowa State. I think we all remember the others.
