    08-09 schedule: looks way better

Trying to find something positive in cyclone football..

Looked at next year's football schedule. SO here's how it goes:

    South Dakota State (H)
    Kent State (H)
    Iowa (A)
    UNLV (A)
    KU (H)
    BAY (A)
    NEB (H)
    TAM (H)
    OSU (A)
    CU (A)
    MIZ (H)
    KSU (A)

I think the following prediction is desirable and realistic:

    South Dakota State (H) WIN
    Kent State (H) WIN
Iowa (A) WIN (with some coaching changes at Iowa)
    UNLV (A) WIN / LOSS
    KU (H) WIN / LOSS
    BAY (A) WIN / LOSS

--- at this point in the mid-season, I think its very realistic to go 4-2

NEB (H) WIN (with a new coaching staff at NEB)
TAM (H) WIN (with a new coaching staff at TAM)
    OSU (A) LOSS
    CU (A) LOSS
    MIZ (H) LOSS
    KSU (A) LOSS

I say its very realistic to go from a 2-10 year to 6-6 year for Gene Chizik next year, with a better schedule. Shreveport, here we come :)

Re: 08-09 schedule: looks way better

I like your optimism, but whoa boy, ISU has some holes to fill to reach 6 wins, I don't care how weak the other opponents are, ISU must improve from within, and by that I mean not killing itself. Hopefully some of the redshirted players this year step up and contribute early often and effectively next season.

    Four wins sounds about right.

Looks like about a 4 win season to me, which is a good enough improvement over Year 1 in the Chizik era for me.

Very optomistic to say the least, but I'd love to see it.

Re: 08-09 schedule: looks way better

I like the schedule too (cuz i get to go to vegas) but if we dont get talent in here, it won't matter. We'll struggle for Ws big time against anyone.

I was just at SDSU a couple weekends ago and it's a nice little campus. Their field is smaller than Valley Stadium though. We better win that one.

We're planning on heading out to the Vegas game in September next year but they also play Colorado away. That's a hard one to decide since we both like Colorado so much.

Re: 08-09 schedule: looks way better

I would hope to see a few thousand Clonies @ UNLV next year... Wisconsin took like 15k in their game in Vegas back in Sept.

As for next year, taking 3 out of the first 6 games would be a huge improvement, but to really make a statement of improvement, I think somehow pulling out a W against someone we aren't supposed to beat, esp. in those final six would be huge for the program. Ferentz won a couple games in 2000 (2nd season) that they probably weren't favored in. Wins like that give hope for 09.....

I think we can do that yet this year. I think Chizik will come up with a way to win at least one more game this season. We will be double digit underdogs the rest of the way this season, and beating anyone would be a huge win for us - even more so than beating Iowa.
