    Couchsurfing.org

Probably not the place for this but it deals with the NCAA Tourney so here we are.

I'm planning on attending the NCAA tourney wherever it is and the only thing left to figure out is lodging. In my searches of Google I have found couchsurfing.org which is literally a place where you can crash on someone's couch for a few days while you check out whatever city they live in.

Anyone ever done it or hosted someone? I am probably gonna give it a whirl if its in one of the few cities I don't have a friend in College nearby.

How did this go for you? I'm thinking about doing the same thing this March. Has anyone else tried it?

If you are less than 30, in Europe, traveling with a partner, and choose to live with a host that has multiple good reviews, it's alright. In fact very popular in Europe.

not sure I would do it in the US.

I used this and a site called warm showers during a bike tour across the US. It's fine in this country too. your mileage may vary. Trusted hosts with multiple reviews are usually better, but newbies can be good too. Be a good guest...

    Re: Couchsurfing.org

Have used couchsurfing about a dozen times, both hosting and traveling. Always have had top-notch experiences, often with interesting, friendly people who have good info about the place you're staying. Good to have a backup solution identified ahead of time, but I highly recommend it.

Can you tell us more about the bike tour? That sounds interesting solo or in a group etc.
