    Offseason anticipation

Wow! First a great football season and now basketball follows with an unbelievable year!

My question is which sport at ISU is going to have more offseason hype, men's basketball or football? I think pending how far the basketball team goes and if RW stays for another year, I would have to tilt the table slightly toward basketball. How about you?

    Re: Offseason anticipation

I think they feed off each other and we see record attendance and hype in both sports.

Would not surprise me if we averaged over 55,000 in football and sold out all conference home basketball games.

Football will be good, but next year in basketball we could be Top-10.

    Re: Offseason anticipation

Absolutely basketball. I think with or without Royce. We have a chance to be way better in basketball than in football. I think football is still a year or two away from making the leap Fred already has.

    Re: Offseason anticipation

I was a bit sad tearing the final ticket off my season ticket sheet yesterday, this is a season i really dont want to end. This season isnt completely over yet and i'm already looking forward to the next game in hilton, so i think it has to tilt to bball as far as hype goes.

This. We don't really have as much star-power in football. If Babb ends up being first-team defensive and RW comes back that's going to generate a lot of hype nationwide (or at least in the conference).

Football is going to be solid again next year, but I don't see us making a run at a B12 title next year like I do in basketball. I hope I'm wrong and have to eat crow with this statement.

There is nothing worse to me than a thread about next year when you are in season, regardless of how good or bad the team is doing.

You even question your own post with, "Pending how far the basketball team goes"? what the heck man? whay not bring this up later? OR just enjoy the momentum the Athletic Dept has on multiple levels.....

    Re: Offseason anticipation

Like to see how the visit from Pelle goes.. If he commits no doubt basketball. Heck even if he doesnt commit and Royce stays it will still be basketball.

We have the opportunity and ability to be really good next year.

Having said that. We still have ALOT of work to do this year in BB. Scotty sure isnt looking to next year, and doesnt want us to yet either.

    Re: Offseason anticipation

With how hyped and in tune to MBB right now I have a hard time even thinking about football yet.

I havent really even opened up a football thread in over a month.

Both. I don't even want to think about the end of this basketball season yet. The time between then and the football opener is dead to me in terms of sports.
