    Gottleib Gives us More Respect

Starts at about 2:30. Just said that we'd be a difficult out in the tournament. Joe Lunardi's latest Bracketology update - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN

He is finally realizing what we, and a lot of commentators, have been saying for a month. Better late than never.

I understand last night when Andy Katz mentioned Fred as COY in the Big 12 on ESPN, Gottlieb quickly pooh-poohed it and said Bill Self...hands down

Self may be the best coach in the Big 12, but all he did this year is exactly what everyone predicted they would do and he had the help of the likely National POY. CFH took a team picked to finish 8th in the conference to a 3rd place finish and beat every team in the B12 other than Mizzou.

Its CFH or Haith. Self shouldn't even be in the discussion.

Shall I bookmark this statement for a few years down the road when fans start claiming that CFH deserves to be CoY because ISU won the the conference "like they were expected to do?"

Wrong, A&M was picked first. Baylor second? KU lost a ton from last year. This was his best coaching job at KU, hands down. CFH did an awesome job, no doubt about it. I would go Haith, Self then Hoiberg but it is very close.

Re: Gottleib Gives us More Respect

Heres my one complaint with him thinking Self is the COY. Yes Self is a great coach but I thought this recognition is more of what your team does when you werent even talked about being in the top 4 of the conference. Id agres that its either Haith or Hoiberg. I just have a hard time going against Fred at this point when this Cyclone team was picked to finish in the bottom of the conference and now we are in the big 12 tourney with a 3 seed.

Tie for first with KU, with KU having more first place votes.

Mizzou was predicted lower by a lot not because of talent but because of a general disrespect for Haith's coaching abilities at the time

How many sources had A&M at first? Can't believe how far that was off. Also, I thought most either had Baylor or Kansas at the top with Missouri around 3 or 4.

Well those predictions were mostly pretty far off.
