Inside scoop on nation's top teams.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...&sct=hp_t12_a3

Iowa State: The Cyclones are deceptively talented, but they can be lulled to sleep and get disinterested, particularly Royce White. He is an Anthony Mason-type player, a distributor and a facilitator. He's just so talented that he gets bored out there sometimes. Then all of a sudden he's like, now I'm going to play. Then he'll make five plays that nobody in the country at his size can make. I like Chris Allen, but Scott Christopherson is the guy on the perimeter for them. I think a team that can get out and make shots would give them trouble. White is good inside, but that's not what he wants to do. He wants style points. He wants to show he can handle the ball and throw a behind-the-back pass. It also hurts them because he handles the ball so much, yet he misses free throws. Then they bring in Melvin Ejim, who's 6-6, and Anthony Booker, who's 6-9 but wants to shoot threes. So they don't have much inside besides Royce.

Seems overly-negative, but in general its accurate.

I think he did a pretty big disservice to Ejim and Booker. What % is Booker shooting from 3?

I agree. Melvin's energy and work inside has been critical to us. Not only is a finisher that takes advantage of Royce's passing, but he's been getting a ton of the 50/50 balls. Very underrated in importance to this team, especially to people who haven't been paying attention to us.

Thought it was funny the other night during the game when Booker hit a 3 and one commentator says, "That's only his 15th 3 pointer of the year!" Lol he's only shot like 25, he's like 65% from behind the arc.

I like how he takes Royces's calm and calculated style of play as being not interested. Just because every other top tier player in the nation is a ball hog doesn't mean they all should be.

I don't think he was necessarily knocking them, just stating that we don't really have an inside force on the offensive end.

Re: Inside scoop on nation's top teams.

We had this one yesterday. It was an evaluation by other league coaches, and they were supposed to point out weak points in the opposing teams.

In Seth Davis's words: If it seems these scouting reports are overly negative or critical, that is my fault, not theirs. We all know these teams are good. I wanted to know where they weren't so good

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Just quoting this for emphasis. This write up is focused on weaknesses.

Re: Inside scoop on nation's top teams.

In all honesty I am just really happy to be included in the article. I love it when we write ups, positive or negative. At least were on the national radar again.
