    Korie Lucious

I was interested to get a Spartan fan point of view on him. So here you go.

Michigan State Spartans Forum - ESPN

    Kind of what I expected.

    Re: Korie Lucious

I had heard from a few people back in the pre-season that this team was struggling to find a leader. I think you could see that in our November and December games. I was told that Korie was trying to become that vocal leader on the team, but it was hard because he was redshirting.

Obviously Scotty and Royce and CA have grown into great leaders since then. But.....it makes me pretty happy that Korie tried to take that role on and I would think that would continue to next year.

Thread titles like this one worry me until the page loads and I see it's something harmless /fridayconfession

    (except for when it's not-so-harmless)

Funny, Iowa fans were telling me earlier that he wasn't a true PG. Shows how much they know.

    Re: Korie Lucious

Yep. Seems about right. It'll be hard to know what to expect from him, but you'd think that he has the same motivation that Allen has this year. Get back to the dance and make a run. He'll only have 1 year, and hopefully he's improved (in terms of his questionable shooting %) with his year off.

The thing that I'm worried about, and honestly kind of expect, is that he will struggle early. Allen, Booker, and White all struggled in the beginning of the year. What part of that was the layoff of not playing for a year, I don't know. But I think it was part of it. Luckily we have a lot of very good players coming back and we should be alright even if he does struggle early. It'll be nice to have a true PG again, though. I love Scotty and Allen, but there are just some things they can't do.

We shouldn't start out as slow since its only two transfers next year instead of four.

Agreed. If we have Lucious, Babb, White, McGee, Clyburn, Ejim, Booker and Gibson all starting or in the rotation, I don't think you'll see as much ramp up time as we had this year. Really only Scotty and Ejim had prior playing experience with Hoiberg.

Next year will be totally different.

    Re: Korie Lucious

Definitely could use a true point guard, and we have plenty of firepower around him, so not too concerned about his scoring. If he can hit the occasional jumper to keep the defense honest, or drive for a lay up now and then, sounds like a perfect compliment to what we have coming back.

It will be interesting to see what a year off does for both him and Clyburn. I also think it will be good to see how much a year with FH as his head coach may help Korie. We all remember how much DG seemed to improve between his 3rd and 4th years and I like to think at least part of that was due to FH's coaching and guidance, I'm also very excited to see Long play. I think he may surprise a lot on this board.

For the most part, im unsure of the competition that he's been playing, but that game against Huntington Prep a week or two ago makes me think we might have really gotten a steal.

    Edit: Naz Long that is...

I'm also very excited for SDW. His highlight film makes it appear that he can shoot lights out.
