    Jerome Tiller...QB

Looks like Iowa State has signed a gem at the QB position. Tiller is 6-3, 184lbs from Texas and is the 20th rank at his position in the U.S. He has a canon arm, can throw on the run and is a 4.47 in the 40. Tiller, along with Arnaud and Bates gives us three studs at QB for next year. May the best man win!

    Re: Jerome Tiller...QB

Don't know if you remember, but, Arnaud was the #6 dual threat qb recruit by rivals when he committed to us.....

    Austen Arnaud - Football Recruiting

So, we will definately have competition there....and from everything i've heard Bates is not and will not move positions - too bad, i really like how he looks at receiver....getting the most talent on the field is what's important.

Tiller has his work cut out for him too....Don't forget the darkhorse of Josh Jordan and the possiblity of Jack Elway is still out there.....

    Should be fun!!!!

Lets just hope he ends up coming here. I know on one of the sites his verbal has turned into a "soft" verbal

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Agree entirely...the other school he was seriously considering was Kansas. They are having a breakout year and we are having....well....it's something. Keep your fingers crossed on this one because I doubt Mangino has quit calling.

    Re: Jerome Tiller...QB

I don't expect to see Bates at the QB position in the future. At this point, I would guess that Arnaud is the heir apparent and Bates will continue as a receiver. Bates has too much talent and athletic ability to keep him as a back up QB.

If that's the case, Tiller could still come to Ames, redshirt and have 2 years available after Arnaud is done. That's certainly a lot of projecting what might happen, but would guess that's the angle the staff is using to recruit Tiller!

    Re: Jerome Tiller...QB

Whatever happened to the guy from Louisiana that was supposed to come in and show all of us how to play quarterback (or is that Josh Jordan)?

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

    Re: Jerome Tiller...QB

I think if Bates succeeds as a reciever he will move to that. I know he wants to be a QB but if the skills are better as reciever and he gets alot of attention he will have no problem switching.

If our main competition is Kansas, then the main reason Tiller would come to ISU is to win the QB job in 2008. Kansas won't need a new starting QB for several years (Reesing is only a sophomore). Arnaud has the experience advantage over the other QBs next year but I don't think Arnaud is a cinch to win the job.

    Re: Jerome Tiller...QB

Well, the gist of everything seems to be that we need more talent. So I am all for recruiting as many good football players as possible, regardless of position.
