Oregon State BBall Game, Anyone Going?

Ok heres the deal. My wife and I for the past couple years have used the Mediacom Capitol Classic as a tradition getaway. Since it has been canceled, we are looking for a new destination. I have been thinking about taking her to Corvallis,OR for a mini vacation thing. Couple of questions.

    Has anyone been there?
Who do you suggest for flights/hotels...etc?
Where would you fly into? Portland? or Corvallis?
How hard will it be to get tickets and where should I look to get them?
    Is anyone else going?

I'd fly to Portland - it's expensive enough flying out there, you should probably go in there.

My sister used to live there, so I can't give you any hotel advice or anything. Oregon State is generally... not good so I think tickets should be readily available.

Re: Oregon State BBall Game, Anyone Going?

We are flying northwestern for less than $200 ea from Des Moines to Portland for a long weekend to include the Portland State game. Contact person in Portland is Matt Gregg (matt.gregg@mac.com). He organizes the game watches in the Portland area. There is a possible charter bus taking ISU fans from Portland to Corvallis..........the more the merrier! Matt is looking for 50-100 Cyclone fans to fill out a block of seats. I've heard that the Seattle watch club is also attending. Maybe even a pep rally?

Re: Oregon State BBall Game, Anyone Going?

I've lived in Oregon since 1987 and I believe you should try to make the trip to cheer on the 'Clones against the Beavers. That, of course, assumes you enjoy a great micro-brew, glass of Pinot Noir, walking on a beach or skiing on a real mountain. I almost forgot about salmon and Dungeness crab.

If you are making a long weekend of it, fly into PDX and experience downtown Portland and its many brewpubs and Northwest-style restaurants. The game is Friday night so you can have all of Saturday to either drive down 99W and sample many world class wineries, drive to the beach (all Oregon beaches are open to the public) or travel up the Columbia River Gorge stopping at Vista House, Multnomah Falls on the way to Mount Hood. It is a little bit of a drive to view Mt. St. Helens, but worth it if the weather is good as they have a couple of interpretive centers on the road into the park.

Who do you suggest for flights/hotels...etc?
-- Corvallis is south of Portland about 1hr 30min. Staying closer to/in Wilsonville is better if you want to go to the wineries the next day. I-5 is bad, traffic wise, on Friday afternoons going south (okay almost all the time) so plan accordingly.

Where would you fly into? Portland? or Corvallis?
-- Portland, especially if you want to stay an extra day.

How hard will it be to get tickets and where should I look to get them?
-- Easy to get tickets to Beaver games; there were plenty of good seats available on the Beavers website the last time I checked.

I expect the Johnsons to be all over the beavers in that game.....

    sorry, couldn't resist .....

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

I could make some comment about them taking it to the hole strong, but I won't do that.

Different sport, but Ryan Kock could always take it to the hole strong.

Can't. My wife will be out of town and there is no way I'm taking the little one to a game by myself. 2 adults are needed at a minimum.

I'm thinking of going. A friend lives in Portland, and I need an excuse to get out of the city for a while. Definitely fly into Portland, it's the largest airport within a few hundred miles. Also, bring rain gear.
