Major Storms in Missouri, Illinois, and Kentuck (2/29/12)

UPDATE: Tornado in southern Illinois kills six; death toll may rise

At least 9 dead, 6 in Illinois, 3 in Missouri I believe are the current reports.

Thoughts and Prayers to all affected.

Yes I feel bad for those who lost their life or know who did, it is going to be an active tornado season. My mom who lives in Kentucky missed the tornado by three miles!! Thank goodness!!

Thoughts and prayers to the lives lost in last night's tornados. It's quite a spectacle to see one, but heartbreaking to see the damage left behind.

Having said that, as an avid severe weather lover and trained storm spotter, I love everything about severe weather, tornadoes, lightning, etc. I'm excited to get back out into the country and observe, record, chase, etc.

This season is going to be brutal if you live in Dixie Ally...just like it way last season. I don't know if we will see any active weather our way here in Eastern Iowa...seems like most of the storms peter out in central Iowa, or get super strong and go way north (IE, Parkersburg, or Waverly)

Good times on Hawkeyenation.com after the 2010 Wisconsin Game!
