Going to Vegas with a group of guys March 15-18th for first week of the tournament. Anybody been during the tourney? What should I do? Staying at MGM b/c it has a big sportsbook. Suggestions appreciated.

It's the best place to be during the tournament. Just hit a good sportsbook and enjoy the action. It will be busy. Nothing like rooting for a #16 to cover some huge line.

    Re: Vegas for NCAA Tournament

Been going for several years now. It is an awesome experience. No specific suggestions, just be prepared for total chaos. It is great when you have several games ending at the same time and people are cheering like crazy when the game is a 14 point deficit but close to the spread and/or over/under. It is MADNESS all the way around! Throw St Patty's in the mix and look out...

    Re: Vegas for NCAA Tournament

I'm heading out there as well. I'm going with a bunch of NCAA tourney Vegas vets, they have a routine down pat and I'm along for the ride. It sounds like if you want to watch in a sports book get there early or get buy into a watch party from the casino.

I'm confused. What does this have to do with football?

    Paul Rhoads' players never quit.

Lots of fun. Went last year during the week so caught some NIT action and then tourney on Thurs and Fri...FYI it was the only gambling that I actually won $ on while I was there.

    Re: Vegas for NCAA Tournament

Thanks for the info everyone. Been wondering whether to bet the spread or the money line, but with the thoughts above regarding cheering for the cover/non-cover I've decided to go mostly with the spread.

For Aclone, this has to do with football because I am to this message board what Jerry Palm is to the NCAA tournament. Unfamiliar with how it actually works.

I went 3 years ago, and it was amazing. We did most of our betting at Treasure Island, they opened their 4 banquet halls on the 2nd floor with HD projection screens all over. This was our routine #1. Wake Up - Make Bets - Lay by pool #2. Catch beers and watch the games at TI. #3 Go out on the town, clubs, bars, shows.... repeat

    Re: Vegas for NCAA Tournament

its a blast, like everyone else has said, get to a sports book early, bet on underdogs and get wooted doing it.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

    Re: Vegas for NCAA Tournament

It's an unbelievable time. Last year was my first. I'm taking this year off, but planning to make it a yearly tradition after that.

    Suggestions -

Don't buy drinks, get them free.

Learn poker and pay for your trip.

Just do pretty much whatever you feel like whenever you want.

That would be up to you. I went last year and only did spreads and parlays. First day I middled like three games in a row. And the San Diego St cover was the most fun I've had in a casino, I swear everyone in the book had SDSU.

As another poster said, the only money I won out there was in the book.

Drink excessively, play blackjack so you can get free drinks, and throw money down at the sports book (so you can get free drinks).
