    NCAA Tourney Site Location

What site are we most likely to land in?

Any chance we get to Omaha? That could be alot of fun.

Odds are against it. KU and MU would be most likely to be in omaha, unless MU got sent to one of the almost as close sites to the east. If theyre both there, we can't be.

If Mizzou and KU get Omaha, ISU cant. Hopefully Mizzou gets sent to Nashville...

But if one of them isn't there, ISU could be there with the other one right?

The two "pods" of four teams could be in different regionals right?

    Re: NCAA Tourney Site Location

It is highly unlikely given that we're probably going to be in a foursome with a higher ranked opponent. Usually the committee tries to place the 4 top seeds in favorable positions over the other teams in their foursome.

    Re: NCAA Tourney Site Location

Last time around Kstate (and KU) played him Omaha, I wanna say that Kstate was like a 5 seed that year so its not out of the question that we could end up there but we'd have to win a couple more games to get considered for that kind of a seed.

I say send Mizz to Nashville. If they are so excited about joining the SEC they should get an early start on playing in that part of the country. That way KU and ISU could be in Omaha in front of BIG XII fans!

    Re: NCAA Tourney Site Location

If ISU is in the 7-10 range as some have projected, you have to look at potential #1 and #2 seeds to figure out where the Cyclones will play.

    Likely locations for top seeds...
    Kentucky: Louisville
    Syracuse: Pittsburgh
    Michigan State: Columbus
    Duke: Greensboro
    North Carolina: Greensboro
    Ohio State: Louisville
    Kansas: cannot play
    Missouri: cannot play

Exactly, we have to hope for MU/KU to get split up and then that the other 1's and 2's get sent somewhere other than Omaha. We need to get in that 4/5 seed 4team bracket to have a shot at Omaha.

+1 ... exactly how I feel. They need to be closer to home (in the SE) not sent to some midwestern outpost like Omaha.

Best case scenario from those options IMO would be Columbus and give us a west coast team to face in the first round. Then a big showdown with MSU where Chris Allen drops 50.

True. Even then, I don't see a situation where KU or Missouri weren't slotted in Omaha — such as MU being in Nashville instead (which I don't see happening). If that did happen, somebody else in top 4 seed range would have to replace them at that site (such as Wichita State rising up to a 4; I could possibly see Marquette being placed there instead of Columbus; long shot there as well).

I think if fans hope for something nearby, they should forget about Omaha, and think big: get to the second weekend, and hope our sub-bracket (wherever it is) feeds into St. Louis with 7/10 over 2 upset in bracket opposite KU or MU (as 1 seed).)

6 seed is possible opposite Big 12 1 seed, although I'd be surprised to be seeded that high and placed in close-to-home region. I honestly think it'd require being a 10.

It's still more feasible, based on bracketing rules, than getting to play in Omaha.
