    One good thing about being an 8 or 9 seed is that we'd be playing somewhat close to Ames. The farthest away would be Pittsburgh.

    Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

    ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

    What makes you say this? I thought the sites have not been chosen yet for specific seed matchups.

    I think we're there in Bracketology as it's a bunch of good stories... ISU vs former coach, and then hopefully ISU vs Michigan St. rematch. The media would have all sorts of "filler" for those two games.

    I look at the tourney brackets and desperately want to get to that #6 seed spot. Getting there makes our chances of getting into the Sweet 16 a lot better and sets up a damn good game against a 2 seed later.

    They haven't but they always put the top seeds close to home.

    Syracuse --> Pittsburgh
    Kentucky --> Louisville
    KU/Mizzou --> Omaha
    Michigan State --> Columbus
    Duke/UNC --> Greensboro

    The only way we aren't playing somewhat close to home is if UNC or Duke get a 1 seed and we get placed there.

    We won't be in Omaha. The top teams determine the location. KU and Mizzou will be in Omaha therefore we cannot be.

    There are so many possible story lines with ISU this season. They could potentially play Eustachy, or McDermott in the first round, could play in Omaha (if Missouri gets bumped from a #2 seed), and a possible Michigan St or North Carolina 2nd Rnd game. Wow!

    I noticed that, too.

    Advantage for ISU is, two chances this week to defeat better teams than any of the other 7's can possibly face even in their tournaments.

    Same goes for Murray State, Temple and Creighton at (6)

    Have to win to climb up a spot or two, but it's there for the taking.
