    50 years...no more

Sad story but I can't blame them...I was in line yesterday for the concession stand and started chanting with an older guy in line. We were already down big in the 1st half so we began talking about how disappointing this season has been. He said his wife and him have had season tickets for 48 years to Iowa State Football and drive each Saturday to Ames from Waterloo.

The sad part is he told me they will not be coming back next year. They have hit rock bottom with not only the product on the field, but the $$ it is costing to watch 56-3.

I am 40 years younger than them and I can't blame them. This is a disaster for Pollard.

Poor way to look at it... our season tickets are still among the cheapest to be had in the Big XII, aren't they? Improvement comes from money, and without money flowing into the athletic department, this program will go nowhere.

My guess is season ticket sales will be down next year by 8-10 thousand.

Hope he has fun sitting on his rocking chair in Waterloo on Saturdays from now on. I'll send him a post card from San Diego in a few years after we win the Holiday Bowl.

If everyone who threatened to not buy tickets or season tickets during or after a 56-3 loss did so, there would be about 5 people in the stadium next year. People will be over it by next Saturday.

    Re: 50 years...no more

That guy needs to take a pill...seriously. We have a coach two years removed from winning the NC. If he didn't expect to get creamed by a team like Texas before the season he sure didn't pick up too much football knowledge in the 50 years he's been a fan.

I'm not trying to make excuses for a horrible performance but anyone jumping off the ship this year is a moron and as far as I'm concerned good riddence.

    Re: 50 years...no more

Since this year is over essentially, the recruiting from here on will be the focus to get better. Looking at the gme, Ace was the only playmaker on the field for us. Maybe Scales. The wide receivers never appear to break open. I seriously have to question who decided the routes they are running, but they were covered fairly well. Guess team speed at WR is a problem. I do like the oline this year and the dline has tried more than last year. The skill positions have tanked. Stevie Hicks did as well last year. Blythe was better last year. Brkema and other tight ends did more last year. Bret actually looked better last year. I am not sure what happened but it looks more and more like we are going through the motions like the nebraska defense. Ticket sales will be down.

    Re: 50 years...no more

I will virtually guarantee that ticket sales will not be down next year. In fact, I think they will go up again. I'd be shocked if they didn't. Pollard will get it done and it only takes a month or two to lose the disappointment of a previous season and have it replaced with the optimism of the next.

I'll tell you right now, that I would raise my donation if need be (and I'm at $1500 currently - Gold Plus).

Well we have the worst product in the big 12, so why not the lowest prices. Show me something to get excited about and I will, but it has been 30 years of from really really bad to just mediocre football.

You know after 2 years ago, I said never again, I bought tickets the next year and upped my donation. After last year, I said never again, and upped my donation. After this year.... well, I am sure I will say never again, and I will up my donation and try again.

Newsflash everybody - we were the worst team in the Big 12 last year too, and season ticket sales went up substantially.

I don't think they'll go up next year (I could see a 33k season ticket holder season) but people are really going bananas if they think that many fewer tickets will be sold.

Honestly this board is in complete meltdown mode.

As long as Pollard is there, and Chizik is there, we will continue to get better - and I will up my donations time and time again.

He's seen way worse than yesterday if he's been coming for 48 years. Did people really expect an immediate fix???
