Fred Hoiberg already influencing college basketball

This one is kind of old, but it shows how much of an impact Fred Hoiberg has had on college basketball. When he was first hired, the World Herald called his hiring a "great experiment" by Pollard, the idea of hiring an NBA player (and former ISU player) with absolutely no coaching experience whatsoever. Well, it has worked so well for ISU that fans of a team in a different conference apparently think that it can work for them.

    So who might Nebraska pursue?
First, to squash some rumors, former Husker star and NBA player Erick Strickland isn't a head coaching candidate. Neither is former Husker star Tyronn Lue, who left Nebraska a year early for the NBA and doesn't have a bachelor's degree, which he would first need.
I have news for Nebraska fans, though: Strickland and Lue are NOT Fred Hoiberg.

I would bet money that Fred isn't going anywhere now or in the future. He has his dream job and back home with family which is so important to him and his family.

People act like this is rocket science and only the elite intellectuals can coach basketball. Fred has been around basketball all his life and is smart as hell. He had plenty of experience, more than most guys actually because he has played his whole life and not just watched.

I dont think he was saying that Nebraska has a chance at hoiberg... he was saying that Nebraska might take an approach like ISU and try for a former stud player because of the success Hoiberg is having at ISU
