    Wisconsin top 15?

I dont get it. Ive been saying all year.

What am I missing that these guys were ranked 15, besides they are "wisconsin"

Wisconsin Men's College Basketball - Badgers News, Scores, Videos - College Basketball - ESPN

Thats the ONE team in the Big 10 that I dont understand getting so much respect.

Agree. They beat #20 UNLV back in December. That's their most impressive win. And they lost to you know who not once but twice.

    This guy?

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Just ONE? IMO, every team in the B1G is overrated, but Indiana is the poster child for an over-hyped team. They've done absolutely nothing noteworthy since December. I think all of the homer sportswriters are just so happy that IU is finally "back" that they want to milk it for as long as they can.

    Tinfoil hat time

Lots of money to be made by big 10 when their teams are hyped. See Michigan going to the bcs bowl game this year.

Looks like they basically have the same resume as ISU...but they're ranked in the top 15 and ISU is unranked.

Basically because the "experts" thought they were going to be good.

Not exactly the same, though. We never lost to Iowa.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Better words could not be said. I look at the Top 25 all the time and can't believe how Indiana and Wisconsin are ranked. Oh well, it will all be sorted out come tournament time and we'll get to see how "good" the "experts" think they are.

What sucks is that is that IU or Sconnie just need to be put in a weak bracket, win a couple games, and suddenly the sportswriters are vindicated for having them ranked so high all along. I hope both of them get picked off in the first round.

I agree that the way they're playing right now mirrors a team thats "ranked" somewhere around 30-35. But rankings aren't done each week in a vacuum.....their previous impressive wins still count for something in the minds of voters and they have 4 really impressive wins over Kentucky, Notre Dame, Ohio State & Michigan. I mean, they're the only team to beat Kentucky.....thats a freaking huge deal. I understand why they're still ranked.

Ancient history. The UK win was at home, by a sliver, and almost 2.5 months ago. Notre Dame is hot now, but they weren't back then (related side note: ND is the only other team to have beaten a one-loss club...and haven't lost since...and they didn't break into the rankings until 2 weeks ago). And beating Ohio State and Michigan is not that big of a deal (see previous post about how overrated the B1G is).

Indiana played an entire month of sub-.500 basketball, and they somehow clung to their ranking. That's obscene.

I mean you can choose to try and marginalize those good wins, but you can do that to every team. Obviously I disagree, and I think alot of it has to do with the fact that you're seeing this through Cardinal and Gold glasses. If we were the only team to beat Kentucky I doubt you would say that was a while ago and only in a close game. I think you're bias shows here, but thats ok...I wish we were ranked too. Obviously the thing against us is we only have one really impressive win, and it was at home in a close game vs KU....practically the same argument you used against Indiana.

Also alot of this has to do with what is your criteria for ranking a team? The past week, month or the entire year? I think most pollsters do it based on the entire year with a bit more emphasis on the last 10 games or so. Which is why it doesn't surprise me that they're clinging to the ranking still.

Efficiency-based computer rankings love Wisconsin. Both KenPom and Sagarin Predictor have Wisconsin at #7. And aside from two odd losses to Iowa, their worst loss is to a Marquette team that will be a 3-seed.
