    Are you scientifically literate?

Great quiz, some of these questions I found to be a bit hard. I got 43 of 50 (86%), although I admit that I got lucky on a couple.

Are you scientifically literate? Take our quiz - Composing about 78 percent of the air at sea level, what is the most common gas in the Earth's atmosphere? - CSMonitor.com

Looks interesting. I'm in the middle of it now, but the website is taking FOREVER to load each page. Having to show me my answer prior to moving on to the next question isn't helping matters, either.

I like trivia, so the questions are kinda fun. However, I think "scientific literacy" involves a lot more than trivia knowledge. I'd much rather work with someone who can critically-think and process information than one who is a walking encyclopedia. Unfortuantely, those qualities aren't as easily assessed by impersonal surveys.

Not according to this test nailed a 38%.

Got the first 8 correct and got sick of waiting for the slow pages to load. Seems like fairly standard knowledge for someone with a BS.

    Re: Are you scientifically literate?

I got 60% (30 correct). Not a terribly easy quiz if you don't have the science background. I avoided science classes after high school aside from earth sciences. Guess I was able to remember something, though.

Other people were complaining about this, too, in the comments after the quiz. Try Adblock Plus. I have that installed, and the pages were loading lightening-fast for me.

It gets a bit harder, but not horrible overall. Pretty fun. I also had the slow loading problem.

    Re: Are you scientifically literate?

If I had taken a science class more recently than 7 years ago, or actually dealt with anything scientific, maybe it would have been easier. However, I was happy with my 28/50.

Only missed four. Then again, I'm a chemist.

I do agree that this doesn't assess critical thinking.

Invalid. They just asked a question "which planet doesn't have moons" and Pluto was a choice. Pluto is no longer a planet

66%. Nice to see I am still smarter than some of you turds. I was worried.

I clearly did not pay attention in high school physics.

    28-50 for 56%. F.

not to bad for someone with two art degrees. although i would accredit the bulk of my correct answers being a product of the process of elimination mixed with some luck rather than truly knowing most of the answers.
