    ESPN Power Rankings 2/23

Not sure if this has been posted but it didn't come up in my search. Kansas State jumped to #25, ISU of course has no votes. Just another example of no respect.

The persecution complex really needs to end around here. KSU knocked off two top ten teams on the road last week. What have we done lately?

    Re: ESPN Power Rankings 2/23

Teams in that power ranking that I believe ISU to be on par with, if not better than:
14 Wichita State 25-4 (why don't you play in a big boy conference and then we'll talk)
16 Notre Dame 20-8 (is there a sport in which they aren't overrated?)
    16 Florida State 19-7
18 Murray State 26-1 (why don't you play in a big boy conference and then we'll talk)
18 Wisconsin 20-7 (and they lost to Iowa...again)
21 New Mexico 22-5 (why don't you play in a big boy conference and then we'll talk)
    22 Indiana 21-7 (B1G overrated nonsense)
23 UNLV 23-6 (why don't you play in a big boy conference and then we'll talk)
24 Vanderbilt 20-8 (why don't you play in a big boy conference and then we'll talk)
25 Gonzaga 21-5 (why don't you play in a big boy conference and then we'll talk)
25 Kansas State 19-8 (hopefully the 'clones beat the Purple Kittehs in Manhattan for the season sweep; hard to argue against that)

Others receiving votes - Saint Louis, California, San Diego State, Virginia, Saint Mary's, Creighton, Drexel, Long Beach State

For the record, I am not a fan of the mid majors getting high rankings. If you don't play in a big boy conference, you don't deserve to be on a list with the big boys. If you are undefeated, you get to be in the 15-25 range.

I should add - I don't mind watching the little guys in the tourney to see how they stack up. Thank goodness CBB is decided on the court instead of by any computers or voters.

The BIG will get exposed in the tourney. Good conference but overrated.

    Re: ESPN Power Rankings 2/23

Yes K-State should be on there.

These are POWER Rankings... based of a teams recent performances. And they just beat two top 10 teams (on the road) and played KU close the previous game.

Overall rankings, no. They don't deserve to be ranked.

What happened in the last week to earn respect? He also seemed to lump the no-respect card in with KSU being ranked. Hell, they had 2 better victories in one week than we've had cumulatively all year.

I'm tired of people whining about respect when we've done nothing to deserve a ranking.

    Re: ESPN Power Rankings 2/23

Should we get respect for beating OU and TTech at home? Nope
We need a good road win. If we beat KSU, we will still not be ranked, BUT, if we beat MU. Rank City!
If we can get 1 of the next 3, I will be happy but I think we can get 2.

If you ask the basketball analysts outside the state of Iowa I think you would be surprised to hear their responses. Iowa was pegged as a preseason top 5 team by one ESPN analyst and is ranked in the vast, vast majority of preseason top 25 polls

Respect is earned, not given. Our resume includes what - one top 25 RPI win and a handful of top 50 wins? Our RPI is in the low 40s and people expect us to show up in a top 25 power poll? It's pathetic. The persecution complex around here most of the time makes Rodney Dangerfield look like a well-respected man.

You put vanderbuilt on the "play in a big boy confance then we will talk" list. Sec is a pretty good conferance my man. Kentucky, florida, mississippi state and a bunch others.
