He won't have access to the skill players he had at Tech. I think they'll be competitive and make bowl games but not nearly as successful as he was at Tech.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

He does not need that much skill to run his offense and compete. The defense will get ate up hardcore though his first years. His offense will be able to put up 30-35 points per game now. Then when he starts getting recruits he will be back putting up 50 like he did in the big 12.

Re: washington state and mike leach???

That is a tough job...tougher than the one he had at Tech. USC looks like it might be rolling again...so it would be tough to think WSU can get to the level of a "power". The Pac12 seems to have teams rise up quickly and then fall back a bit so WSU could fit that cycle. It will be tough to outscore Oregon in that league...

All said...great hire by WSU and his program will be fun to keep an eye on while he builds it up.

about as many years as question marks you used

"We embrace that challenge and what it presents to us. I’m going to approach all 12 games this way: We’re going to win them all. If we prepare and then go out and execute, we’re going to win all 12. Now how many are we going to end up with at the end of the year? I don’t know, and you’re right, I won’t put a number on it."- Paul Rhoads on having the toughest schedule in the Big 12

3 years. He will do what he did at Tech to be succesful. What that means is that he will recuit a bunch of Cali kids that schools like USC pass on; much like when he was at Tech and got kids that Texas and OU would pass on

Re: washington state and mike leach???

He did get a couple of nice marquee recruits in their class this year.

    Gabriel Marks - Yahoo! Sports

    Alex Mitchell - Yahoo! Sports

    Robert Lewis - Yahoo! Sports

I think the PAC is in a little bit of a power shift right now. The North seems to be rising in prestige with Stanford, Oregon and Washington looking good. USC is obviously USC but I think he will get his system in place there and start putting up gaudy numbers like Tech.

I say 2-3 years before they are hitting bowls regularly.

Re: washington state and mike leach???

If I'm not mistaken I think WSU has a good QB coming back. Maybe WSU will "Iowa State" somebody big. I wouldn't expect a bowl until year 2 or 3...but theres gotta be some big upset win brewing.

WSU plays in a lot stronger division, and the Pac-12 still plays 9 conf games. Going to be really hard to get to 6 wins. @ BYU in the opener. @ UNLV as well in the non con. They get Colorado at home and I'd bet WSU is only favored in about 2 games this year. 2 home games in the final 5 contests doesn't help....only 6 home games overall.

Sometimes a pirate beats a soldier...or whatever Leach says. We'll see.

Re: washington state and mike leach???

Did Leach change the culture of the Big12? Like a earlier poster said, his offenses were putting up 50 in a crazy spread when 35 was the norm. Then everyone tried to emulate it (well everyone but Iowa) He was a crazy man and knew how to implement a system, but he did it at TTech! Surely he could do it at WashSt. So what do you think, did he change college FB landscape? Or am I missing something.

I'm not trying to be difficult, it comes naturally....

He only had one Rose Bowl type of record while at Tech, and that was because he had Crabtree. Otherwise he was hovering in the 7 - 9 win range. I think it will take him 4 years to get to that point, with a lucky Rose Bowl once every 5 years or so when the talent is right.
