Royce rolls comfortably into new role - CBSSports.com

What would be the perfect ending?
“This community being happy with what we achieved,” White said. “I know that winning an NCAA championship is my goal, winning a Big 12 tournament championship is my goal. But more important, this community being happy with this season and what we’ve done.”

I love the fact that his motivation turned from proving himself and getting revenge on those who misrepresented him into something selfless like making the fans happy. That really shows that he has grown through his experience.

Nice article, and excellent and mature attitude.

Re: Royce rolls comfortably into new role - Borzello

Could all these attitudes and egos mesh together so quickly? Will all of the transfers remain focused? Has Royce White figured it out yet?
“Personally, I took offense to that,” he said. “People who were saying it were part of the industry, who I already had a vendetta against. I was looking for something to take offense to; it helped me stay hungry. I embraced the idea of team and family. I had the most publicized problems, the most noted issues. They got grouped together with that. They didn’t deserve the scrutiny.”
I like this comment the most from Royce. ESPN and the other analysts always lump in all players who have transferred here as if they were all leaving trouble with their coaches or with the law at their previous school. For Royce, and maybe to a lesser extent Chris Allen, that was the case. For Booker and Babb I believe they only left to get more playing time or weren't happy at their old schools. Christopherson, though he is a transfer, shouldn't even be mentioned with the other four. This is the guy's third year playing here, he's the guy who's played longest in a Cyclone uniform on the team.

When I read Royce's comments I have a hard time believing that a 20 year old basketball player is the souce. I'm 28 & am nowhere near that level.

Just when you think you can't possibly like him anymore...he goes and does somthing like this!

Isn't this a bit of an oxymoron? Decribe him as one-of-a-kind, but then immediately categorize him as a "type".

Sorry had to be that guy.

Re: Royce rolls comfortably into new role - Borzello

I am hopeful, that Coach H has not yet determined, in any manner, how to develop Royce's talent. IF, and WHEN he does, ISU will have a great season......a great beginning to a new program.
