Re: Strong second half leads to blowout of Texas Tech

Can't really bag on the team as a whole for the poor FT/3pt shooting when it was only 2 guys dragging everyone else down. Minus Royce, the rest of the guys went 13-17 from the line (76%), and if Babb knocks down even 2 of his 6 misses, that's 8 made threes for the game, which is nearly our average.

Trust me. I'm not "bagging" on the team. It's hard to come up with 3 downs after 18 point league wins.

CW, have you ever watched a blowout win that felt less like a blowout than this one did?

Ha. Great question. To be honest with you, I haven't covered many Iowa State basketball teams that have blown people out so to directly answer your question, no.

The only comparable game I can think of was football's 27-0 win over UNI two years ago...

The truth of your statement hurts, so I don't like it.

For anyone that has time to look it up, when is the last time that we had 4 blowout wins in conference play?
I assume that we can count last night, OU here, and the games at TT and aggieland as blowout victories.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

    Good point.

When is the last season where we can say that we've blown out 5 conference teams? Has there been one?

2001 had five wins against conference opponents that I would consider blow outs. Crazy how this team keeps doing things that haven't been done by an Iowa State team in a decade.

Don’t let the box score from this one fool you though. Iowa State’s 18-point win over the 1-13 Red Raiders did not come easy.
I don't know about everyone else, but I never felt like this game wasn't ours to win. Even down 9 early it didn't seem like we were getting the tar beat out of us. We had several wide open looks that just didn't go - Babb was ice cold. Everything was going in for them, some of which was on our defense and some of which was just them being hot.

IMO the last 10 minutes of the game count as much as the first 10 minutes. And I felt like the last 10 minutes came pretty easy for us.

Their shooting was ridiculous in the first half. They got some good looks because of soft D, but they were draining it. They also hit some shots that weren't easy.

Their hot stroke did not last over the halftime break. Babb completely shut down Nurse and it was over.
