    Fantasy Baseball Help

So I posted this in the fantasy forum but it doesn't show up on the front page, and I seriously would like some help if there are some people that have played a lot of fantasy baseball on here. I need some actual advice on drafting strategy here. PM me if you have other thoughts. Thanks.

My first money league I have ever been in - got roped into this one. $200 a man, so it's worth following and competing. I am looking for some basic draft advice, as I have no clue. Here is some info on the league:

    Head to Head
    Total points scored
Three division winners and three wild cards. 6 of 12 make playoffs

    Batters
    1B Singles 1.5 points
    2B Doubles 3 points
    3B Triples 5 points
    AB At Bats 0 points
    BB Walks (Batters) .5 points
    CS Caught Stealing -1 point
    H Hits 0 points
    HR Home Runs 7 points
    KO Strikeouts (Batter) -.5 points
    R Runs 1 point
RBI Runs Batted In 1 point
    SB Stolen Bases 2.5 points

    Pitchers
BBI Walks Issued (Pitchers) -1 point
    CG Complete Games 10 points
    ER Earned Runs -3 points
    HA Hits Allowed -2 points
    K Strikeouts (Pitcher) 1 point
    L Losses -8 points
    SO Shutouts 5 points
    W Wins 10 points

    Relief Pitchers
BBI Walks Issued (Pitchers) -2 points
    BS Blown Saves -7 points
    ER Earned Runs -3 points
    HA Hits Allowed -3 points
    K Strikeouts (Pitcher) 3 points
    L Losses -7 points
    S Saves 10 points
    W Wins 7 points

Anyone have any basic draft strategy and also what is a good draft sheet to use? I sometimes listen to the Fantasy Focus podcast on ESPN and know they have sheets. Anyone used those?

    Re: Fantasy Baseball Help

I've always been a believer in a strong pitching staff over a strong batting team. Solid pitchers are harder to come by IMO.

I dabble in Fantasy Baseball, and I can tell you, without question, those are the oddest scoring categories I have ever seen. It seems to me that while building/drafting a solid team is a must, success in this league is going to be predicated on daily match-ups with your players.

Do not do the HTH - I've been a part of a rotisserie league for many years
I'd say a majority of draft strategies/team strategies revolve more around drafting offense 1st. In rotisserie, there is a salary cap, auction style draft (win bids - could end up with unspent $ of your salary cap - not a good thing) & in my league there are long-term contracts and such. In HTH, I do not know how this may affect teams, if at all.

I'd say of the top 10 players, 7 to 8 would be offense with 2 to 3 would be pitchers, and those being starters. Do not know how top notch closers would affect your scoring in HTH. In rotisserie they can dominate 1 scoring category, so after the top 2 or 3, they are not worth as high as picks as others.

What are your starting lineups like? My best first advice would be to Look at positions that are thin this year ... 1st base isnt thin but quality isnt there past the first 6 guys meaning if you dont nab one early u could b left grasping at straws later ... While i agree a good rotation is good its good to grab two quality starters and then round out your rotation as you move on ... For instance last year i got kershaw n lester then sat a few rounds collected hitters n later followed up with zimmerman n sanchez ... Both quality guys but on mediocre teams ... If youd like a little more help pm me

Well its HTH and I am positive it won't change. They have fun with it and aren't going to change. You play 5 different teams per week, I guess. Total points wins - so if you beat 4 teams and lose to 1, you go 4-1 on the week.

I have the 6th pick overall. I want to go offense first and then maybe pick up a starter on the way back down (15 teams). Who do you think I go after?

There's questions about his vision so you should be able to pick him up late, I have it on good authority it won't be a problem.

If tulo is there take him ... I personally like grabbing a top ss n staying away from the rest ... If not go votto n get 1b outta the way ... Then its a toss up as u have no idea who will b left on the board on the way back ... If no tulo consider reyes here then grab ur pitcher with ur 3rd pick ... Very Hard to project a 15 teamer
