Wow, in wrestling we had guys told to shave in order to compete. I wonder why the double standard.

This is the kind of thing that should have to be caught before the fact. You know, like pine tar on a bat or wearing pink uniforms without approval.

A lot of obscure sports keep themselves that way by being ridiculous. You dive in, you swim, the first one to finish wins. The only rule swimming needs is: just ******* swim.

They are sending the wrong message here, shaving all of ones body hair is very important. Well not for dudes, but otherwise.

You're confusing swimming with water polo. Drowning is all good there!

Read the article. Shaving itself is allowed, they just don't want to be responsible for some idiot cutting themself on site or even worse spreading some sort of communicable disease. It makes sense, but if they are going to strip titles instead of just policing it and slapping girls on the wrist then they really should have done a better job of making sure team's were aware of the rule ahead of time.

That's what I'm saying though. They were told to shave while at the meet by the ref. During warmups we had fingernail checks and one official said that several guys had to shave to compete.

Oh, I misunderstood what you wrote. Unless you grew up in Maryland, I'd imagine it's just stuff that varies from state to state. My guess is that somebody put this in the Maryland high school athletics association rulebook at the height of AIDS concerns.
