    Anybody know a good publisher?

I have been writing for about 2 years now, and my guide is about half finished.

The title is "Babies & Basketball: The Stay-At-Home Dad's Survival Guide"

Any writers know some tips on shopping this kind of stuff around?

Well, I know it is a lot of work, but I would pick up the latest "Writers Guide" to see what publishers will publish that sort of a book, which will help you narrow down the field much quicker. There is also an online version that allows you to search (last I checked), which may be easier and you pay a yearly fee for.

Best of luck. One of my lifelong dreams is to write a book one of these days. I admire you for giving that tall, brutal task a shot!

Thanks for the info. You say it's a lot of work, but I'm not scared. Right now I'm in charge of a 4 year old and 3 month old, which is more work than I ever imagined.

That is correct. I have been doing GIS contracting on the side, but have no intentions of picking up any paid work this year. So I stay home and hang with the kids, and write a couple nights a week.

    And I drink.

You should have wrote the book "Cyclonefanatic, the addiction".

That's good, and as you've probably heard, dedication is what matters in large part. I also misspoke earlier. It is Writer's Market you want. The market is the one with the publisher listings. I think the online version of Writer's Market may be more helpful.

OH and also have one book with Butterworths in London but "Biotechnology in Growth Regulation" is a bit boring when compared to what us stay at home dads do.

You can author a completely digital version with the new iBooks Author app and publish it yourself to the iBookstore. (Just an idea.)

Re: Anybody know a good publisher?

Kind of related...I had to write a poem today for my Children's Lit class and it came out waaaaay better than I had imagined. I had a lot of positive feedback on it and I think it could be made into a pretty great picture book. It's called "My Mom Forgot Me at School."
