Don't know, but did you see the opening SNL skit last night spoofing this? Made me laugh.

Same statement 2 times.... once on line and once on air -- I think it's all stupid but just me.

Maybe, but you can't do that on national TV and a website that gets millions of hits. Someone's stupid attempt at humor.

I read that ESPN used the same phrase when we played China in the women's World Cup. They must have a lot of immature people working at ESPN.

Re: ESPN Racist Comment on Jeremy Lin

Apparently someone also made a statement on air about Lin's turnovers being caused "by his squinty eyes."

Re: ESPN Racist Comment on Jeremy Lin

Darren Rovell tweeted a little bit ago that the ESPN employee who made the headline has been fired and the anchor has been put on suspension or something like that.

For those that don't think it's a big deal it's the same as saying "******"(edit:derogatory name for african americans) or any other derogatory racist nicknames. Just like swearing you just can't do it.

Re: ESPN Racist Comment on Jeremy Lin

It'll be interesting to see how big this gets ..... since the media govern themselves, I don't expect much reprisal over this. And that is a shame.

Thinking back to other racist things said on sports TV from Howard Cosell to a recent Rush Limbaugh.

Maybe the key here is the audience that is offended?

Nice job by ESPN to take swift action to dismiss the individual responsible for this. It's unfortunate that there are people in ALL industries that have no common sense or respect for diversity.

update, they have fired one employee, and suspended the other for 30 days.. of course the news anchor was suspended, and the radio guy fired. the third person was not espn employee... so they have done so.. i usually dont mind statements but these were simply ridic.

I wouldnt say its quite that bad. Not a good headline for sure, but at the same time, the phrase 'chink in the armor' is a fairly common phrase (not the first time i've seen ESPN use it)... the word is only offensive if used to call someone 'a chink'... versus the word you compare it to has almost no legitimate use for a sports\news site.
