I remember watching this wih my oldest son (now 34) on the Armed Forces Network while living in Belgium - If my math is right, 20 years ago today. OSU was #2 at the time.

    Re: Anniversary

I was sitting 120 rows behind the visiting bench there. Big country didn't look that big up there. The more the alcohol kicked in the harder it was to make it up those balcony steps to row 14 or so.

    Re: Anniversary

That is one of my favorite games ever. I was in 7th grade at the time and my dad and I's season tickets were the very top row of Hilton on the south side. I remember how much I hated Big Country during that game, guy was a goon, Loren held his own with him though if I remember right. My dad always thought Big Country looked like some drunk cowboy they pulled out of a bar right before the game. Don't remember to many specifics of the game other than how it ended besides my hatred of Big Country reached a very unhealthy level after it. Even though he couldn't hear me being as far up as we were I yelled like hell every time that giant red neck touched the ball, he got away with so much crap it wasn't funny.

It's nice to see the excitement of those games returning back to Hilton.

Wonder whatever happened to that guy.

I know he got fat and had to retire around 2000 from the Association.

    Re: Anniversary

The two best parts of that game...

    1. Earlier in the second half Julo gets a technical and calls Byron Houston a *****

    2. The joy of Sean Sutton on the sidelines (he's fouled out) when Alexander gets fouled at the end there...then he clanked both.

In my 5 years in the SID office as a student asst, the loudest I have ever heard Hilton. One of the best games in ISU history had two of the worst officials in the history of sports in that game. JC Leimbach and Ron Zetcher. Thank you for posting this. Can't get enough of that video.

    Re: Anniversary

For as upset as I initially was at the foul called at the end, it turned out to be a blessing. Meyer went for the block on that play, which would have left Big Country unblocked for a wide open dunk on the errant shot.

Utah Utes, Illinois Illini. The University of Pennsylvania thought about following this pattern by calling themselves the Pennsylvania Pencils. However, they were afraid their students would start chanting "We're No. 2"

He's the one who made the foul call.

Pete used to call him, "Zetcher." With this disdain that he couldn't disguise ... which was really unusual for him.

I think he ended up having some neck and back issues, thus the early retirement.
