I must have a case of the Mondays

What is the rationale that some people use when sticking their license plate renewal sticker in different places on their plate? It clearly states that it should be in the lower left corner, meaning either replace the one that is on there or stick it on top of last year's. I saw a Cyclone plate with them in three different spots. Do you guys think that you need to show how long you've owned your plate?

    Silly rant over...

I put my over where the county first put it, the lower right corner. I guess the whole county is wrong, must drive you nuts if you come up here.

I saw a car the other day that had one of those special plates with the picture of a bird on it (not sure what those are for) but the guy that like 8 stickers that were tiled on his plate covering the pic of the bird.

Either it's a central Iowa thing or just happening more recently, but I never saw this kind of thing when growing up in Marion/CR.

Well I started putting stickers on the other side since I the left corner accumulated about nine years worth of stickers. Then my brother asked me why didn't I just take the stickers off old ones in the first place. I respond, "Meh, it doesn't bother me."

This really bothers me too. Not sure why. It's almost like the driver is trying to brag that they register their car every year and have to show it off...

Not a silly rant at all. In fact, I use the rainbow stickers as an indication that I need to stay away from those people on the road. If they can't figure out that simple task, how can I trust their driving?

Thank you guys! I thought I was the only one! In addition to the phrase "pet peeve" itself, this is a pet peeve of mine too. No one needs to know how long you owned your car/plates, just that you have current sticker. The extra stickers will make enforcement harder (maybe that is their point). But just remove or place the new one over the old!! It says so right on the registration!

As for the bird plates, the goldfinch (state bird), eagle, pheasant, deer and fish are all available for a $40 or so donation to the DNR. I talked with some DNR guys at the state fair and was inspired, and seems like state level public land for recreation as well as hunting is a worthy public good that deserved private support too, so I have them.

Personalized & Specialty License Plates - Motor Vehicle Division - Iowa DOT

I suppose you could apply my above argument and say that "no one needs to know you support the DNR", and that is a fair point, with all bumper stickers too, but at least the plates look nice and support something, not just 5 ugly year/tag stickers.

This bothers me as well. Should be a ticket just because it annoys me. Ok not really but seriously people...put it where it should be.

    That's what she said.

Maybe it can be a test for voting at the polling location parking lot.

I like when people put don't stack them or put them in the correct location. In my experience, it usually means they are bad drivers.

BTW-Yesterday I saw someone with 5 AAA stickers on their trunk. They found a way to actually put them on 5 different body panels,

The one sticker doesn't bother me. It's just when they are all over the plate.

It tells you exactly where to put it on your plate when you renew your registration. I am not sure, but I think someone could theoretically be fined for misplacement of their sticker. Kinda like jaywalking, just something not enforced unless a cop is having a craptastic day.

It drives me bananas as well. It should be a 500 dollar fine, problem solved.

Not a silly rant, really bothers me as well. They should start pulling people over for this and the penalty should be instant roadside death.

Re: I must have a case of the Mondays

My observation over the years is these are not among the best and brightest minds that our fair state turns out.

When I see the sticker checkerboard I immediately get the same opinion of the owner I get when I see a couple of hawkeye stickers crooked on the bumpers or back window.

Often I see both on the same car.

No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine.
