Your dog gets crazy about the DTV logo, mine gets crazy about the ticking clock on 60 Minutes. You've probably never realized how many times they preview 60 Minutes during a Sunday afternoon football game unless you've had a dog that comes unglued every other commercial break.

I've used "toodles" for years. Nothing new here.

........... asking if I wanted tickets to see some band called “The Civil Wars” at the M-Shop at Iowa State’s Memorial Union. At this time, I had never heard of them. My wife and I don’t have much of a life (we were free that night), so we took him up on the offer without hesitation. Less than a year later, the Civil Wars performed at the Grammy’s, opening for my girl, Taylor Swift.

Hey, I REALLY liked their sound. Not sure, I'd call the duo a band though..........

My dog goes nuts when a doorbell rings on tv. Wierd, because we don't even have a doorbell here at the condo; visitors have to knock.

Ames Parking Police are a ******* joke. Did you know you could get arrested in Ames for not paying a parking ticket? I found that out the hard way.
The ticket I had was similar to yours. I parked in our driveway, hanging over the sidewalk a little bit. Left the car running, ran inside to have my roommate pull his car up, ran back outside and the bastard was already writing me a ticket. He didn't care about my explanation and was a total dick. So, as he drove away, I crumpled up the ticket and threw it in the back of his truck. Then I forgot about it, until the night they took me in.

I didn't realize that the parking police did anything outside of the immediate area around campus and campus town.

I went in, had my picture taken, finger printed, then paid my own bail and was released. It was a giant waste of everyone's time (the cops that took me in were going off about this on the way in) and a giant waste of money. Then I had to show up to court a few days later.

There was a woman in court the same time I was who lived in Illinois. She hadn't been to Ames in a few years and was visiting friends. She was pulled over for speeding and was arrested on the spot for an unpaid ticket. I found that completely ridiculous. She had to pay to get her car out of impound and had to miss a couple days of work before going back home to show up in court.

    Re: Monday Musings: 2-13 Edition

The blocking part of a sidewalk thing is ridiculous. Now if you are.blocking the whole sidewalk, now I can understand that. But it just goes to show how much time the parking police/campus police have on there hands. And for them to actually arrest people for an unpaid parking ticket is crazy. What a waste of time, all I can think is is doing is giving them more money.

    Re: Monday Musings: 2-13 Edition

A friend of mine that lives in Ames has had this on multiple occasions at their place. Duplex with little parking; if you are remotely covering the sidewalk, you will be ticketed. I know a couple of people that walk out there mid parking ticket and they still write it up and give it to them (even with car running and moving stuff around). Pathetic really.

Surprised though no one at this residence has been arrested as it sounds like you can be...

I went to college thinking I wanted a career; turns out I just wanted paychecks.

    Re: Monday Musings: 2-13 Edition

Like I wrote in the blog, getting the ticket isn't really what got me hot. It's the whole "I'm going to wait until you walk inside, throw it on your vehicle and then get the hell out of there" that upset me.

If I broke the law, I broke the law. I'll pay the fine. But at least be man enough to hand me the ticket when my vehicle is running.
