    Post-Saturday bracketology

Joe Lunardi's quick Bracketology update - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN

Several things favor ISU's hopes in the short-term of a LOCK.

KU elevated to a 1 seed. Missouri up to 3 overall.

Big 12 now has 6 in consideration.

Conference-attachment doesn't matter for tournament bids, but there tends to be a "lift" for other tournament teams if a league's top teams are in 1-3 range.

    this was on sportscenter

    1) How is Miami one of his last 4 teams in? They are 15-8..35 RPI and 40 SOS...better resume then Iowa State and they are a 9 seed? (sorry, makes no sense).

    2) How is Belmont a last four team out? They are 19-7 with an 87 RPI and 190 SOS...not even close to being in the field as an at-large. Iona, a team in a similar conference, is 19-6 with a 55 RPI and 145 SOS..better in the big 3 categories and yet they are underneath them...stupid.

While Lunardi is an "expert", sometimes his picks are puzzling as ****.

I thought that was confusing, too.

It makes note of Belmont and Iona as at-large bubble teams. Both are favorites as auto-bid, but neither currently leads its conference this could be "teams in the field if everything goes as expected." If it's true bracketology assessment, It seems like apples-and-oranges.

What's really going to help is if Texas and Purple Kansas can stay even and about a game behind us. The selection committee is going to want to get one or both of them in which should end up helping us.

I know it's petty, but there was 2-3 different things written on the ESPN blog about UT's win at home even though it only ties them for 5th, yet here we are tied for 3rd and not a peep.

It also means big bucks for the conference if we can get 6teams in the tourney.

The Big 12 deserves 6 more than the Big 10 deserves 8.

The Big 12 is only three games behind the Big 10 in non-conference record, and holds a 4-1 record directly against them.

This may be true...but when it comes time for him to predict his final bracket...the guy doesn't mess up!

ISU was expected to win that game and many people have the Cyclones in the field as long as they take care of business.

Texas has struggled of late and that was a quality win for a team that is trying to play their way in.

More newsworthy in Austin in my opinion.

At least he is better than Jerry Palm @ CBS...

still has 9 B1G teams, but did move the Big XII up to 5 from 3 a couple of weeks ago.

The worst part is that Illinois loses at home to NW and moves from an 8 seed in one bracket to an 8 in another. We lose at Okie State and drop from a 9 (playing Illinois) to a 10.

Because there is a lot more Texas fans than ISU fans.

    Re: Post-Saturday bracketology

    On the B1G:
The B1G lovefest goes too far. Hearing B1G shills say 9 is possible and maybe even likely makes me puke in my mouth a bit. If they deserves 8 in, then the Big 12 should have 6. To be clear, the B1G IS the best conference, but the gap is not as much as everyone thinks it is.

After watching Wisconsin, I feel like we could compete at a level with them. in fact, If we were in the B1G, I think we could be 4 or 5. As it is now in the Big 12, we are 3 or 4. I even think Texas and KSU could be .500 in the conference.

    On Texas and KSU:
It's been discussed already here that Texas has an easier finish to the conference, and KSU has a tough finish. However, historically, Frank Martin's teams really step up late in the year, and have knocked off top teams at this time. Well, they have the opportunity to now. I think Texas gets in, and KSU has an outside shot at getting in if they pull off some big wins.

Pisses me off, but it's true. Just look at the ESPN.com video highlight. It's catering to Aggies, and it's done by ESPN Dallas. I doubt very much that we're going to get an ESPN Des Moines any time soon.

On CBS, Mateen Cleaves just said we were going to be the first at-large left out of the tournament. *sigh*
