some people are WAY too trusting

Attorney General Warns Of Online Puppy Scheme - Des Moines News Story - KCCI Des Moines

I guess I thought that by this point everyone and their brother either knew of all the scams around wiring money to Africa, or would at least bit a little skeptical about wiring money to Cameroon in exchange for a dog...

I think somebody on here unfortunately had that scam happen to them. Remember; it's always easy to see it when they're reported on but not as easy when it's happening.

Stupid is a little harsh. I believe you meant naive and trusting. Its really too bad people cant trust more in life. Too many sheisters have ruined alot of good relationships between people.

Harsh, maybe. Accurate, yes. Dude doesn't understand what "resisting arrest" means, (and posts on here trying to gather sympathy from us) and plays obscene "hip-hop" for his 6th graders. [Charlton Heston voice]Frankly son, he frightens me[/Charlton Heston voice]

I can't help it if I have a good posting memory. Or is bringing up the subject matter of past posts verboten on this "grate olde site?"

Re: some people are WAY too trusting

Anyone see that commercial, for Citibank, I think it is? Where the guy from "another country" comes in to the restaurant and asks someone to cash a money order for him and take a portion of it and give the rest back to him......pretty funny.

But seriously, these a-holes prey on our willingness to trust other people, and its made us have to become a more calloused society. It sucks, but you pretty much can't trust anyone anymore. I'm getting ready to sell my truck privately, and I'm scared crapless that somebody is going to give me a fake MO or cashier's check. Not sure how I'm going to prevent myself from getting hosed.....

Cash, or US Postal Money Order. The scammers tend to steer away from using US Postal Money Orders, because the Postal Service comes down on them with "both boots" if they should be caught.

Amazing how when someone takes fraud seriously, it just stops. Perhaps this might be a clue to the rest of the enforcement agencies in how to do business....
