    Random thoughts on Cyclone MBB.....

    1) Royce White - He definately has Lottery Pick and very good NBA potential. He has Marcus Fizer's size and strength and like Marcus is a little bit of a tweener (SF height and PF strength and size).

But Fizer was only an above average rebounder in the college game (he should have averaged 10 rebounds a game easily) and score most of his points posting up and 12' and in.

White gets most of his points off the dribble facing the basket (more of a small forward skill set), a lot better passer (ditto for small forward), is a better rebounder, and has a great handle for his size. The critical development for him to play and be effective in the NBA is developing a 12' to 23' scoring game. That will be the difference between him being a journeyman and an effective pro. I believe he has the soft touch to have that. He also has an intelligence to his game.

    2) The play of Chris Allen, Anthony Booker, and Melvin Ejim will determine if this team makes the Sweet 16 or Final 8. If Ejim can make close to the contribution he did against OU and consistently, and Chris Allen and Booker turn it up a notch (which they have the ability to), this team could be that GOOD.

    3) If we keep improving, we could slip past Baylor and finish 3rd place in the Big 12. We could also cause some real problems in the Big 12 Conference Tourney. A strong finish and strong showing in KC by making the finals could lead to a #4 seed in the NCAA's

    4) This team is developing a strong chemistry. They showed in Norman against a solid team team that played well that we could take and hold a lead on the road.

    5) If this team continues to improve in defense, rebounding, and half court offense, will offset its point guard and low post offense deficiencies...

    Just my thoughts....

I'll contribute my thoughts to item #1 comparing white to fizer, until I see white running the court and giving everything he has on every play (like fizer did), he's still behind fizer in my books. That being said, white is a VERY, VERY good player and has more potential than almost any cyclone I can remember watching

Love Royce, but he's not yet a lottery pick. Draft Express and NBA Draft.net don't even list him in their mocks, which cover both rounds. This story is a pretty fair assessment of how he's viewed in the league DraftExpress: NBA Draft Prospect of the Week: Royce White

    I'll tackle #2.

Sweet 16 or Final 8? Easy son, let's just get to the tournament and then see how it goes.

Sorry, but Royce White is not a lottery pick, and I would be surprised if he ever got to that level.

    7. When the team needs a little motivation speech, call in Dedric Willoughby.

    8. When Fred Hoiberg slams the postgame presser table, the cyclones instantly turn into a very good basketball team.
