Texas and Oklahoma had the top rated classes? There's a huge surprise.

Re: ESPN gives ISU 2012 class a C

    Easy analysis of this.....

    Texas had more 5 * players then Oklahoma= #1
    Oklahoma had more 5 * then next team= #2
and so on and so on....

Considering no 5 stars on ISU roster= don't care by large media.

    All you need to know.

Re: ESPN gives ISU 2012 class a C

They don't look at teams specific needs, or strategy with recruits.

This is why NSD is the next biggest scam besides Valentines day...

Plus seriously... Grown adults drooling over high school players in which 25% or more may never contribute or do anything in there college career. Just disturbing in all reality. Wait till they hit the field for said team then come back and see how good of a class it was.

Re: ESPN gives ISU 2012 class a C

For those that don't think stars matter. Look at who the top 10 were in the Nation. Then look at the rankings to end last year. The guys with the most 4 aznd 5 stars always end up on top. Sometimes if you get a good team you can shock some people. However, the recruiting services usually know what they are doing.

They aren't wrong. Not like we snagged guys that UT, OU, OSU, or A&M were drooling over.

Texas Tech got a B-, but also was a top 25 team in recruiting rankings. That's some tough grading.

Re: ESPN gives ISU 2012 class a C

CPR pointed out that ISU does not really pay attention to Stars or ratings in evaluating recruits. ISU identifies recruits as to their abilities and background and how they "fit" here at ISU. IMO, this is a good idea. ISU is a very unique University. Small town University in a Big Name Conference. The Players we get seem to have a genuine love for ISU and the family type of atmosphere that IMO is unique to BCS type football.

So ISU will never be at the top of the ratings in recruits. But the important thing to remember is will be getting quality recruits that can compete and graduate and will have a positive effect on the University during their careers. Having 4 stars and 5 stars that don't fit, and are risks socially and academically so they are here and gone is the death knell for a program. Attrition is the biggest problem in today's world of limited scholarships. So eliminate attrition by getting athletes who can compete yet still "fit" and will thrive at ISU.

Re: ESPN gives ISU 2012 class a C

ISU is going to need a few 9 win seasons to be able to get some 4 star guys. ISU's recruiting has been better but the fact is they still are getting classes ranked near the bottom of the league. I never expect ISU to be at the top of the league but hopefully they can get to the point where they regularly finish in the middle.

    I give ESPN a D.

(I also think that my ratings is about as valuable as their rating.)
