This! On paper this appears to be one of the better of CPR's class but you never really know if everyone pans out!

Today was kinda "meh" just because I was really hoping to land Montgomery and/or Simon. But even without them, it appears to be one of our best classes ever. At least from top to bottom more than solid and capable athletes.

So it was still great for ISU, just got my hopes up a little. Still worked out very well, because I think we are right where we need to be with the 85 scholarships so there wasn't much room anyways.

Re: I don't get it -- was today good, bad, or meh?

I am pleased. IMO, we picked up some quality DB's that have some height. Historically we have not had the luxury of good taller DB's. So that is a plus and increases our potential.

We added 3 LB's which appear to be decent players as well.

Really impressed with the number and quality of our DL recruits compared to what we have gotten in the past. Yes.

Some good OL prospects with a gem in Duaron Williams.

A nice QB prospect in Rohach. 1 good quality QB prospect.

3 very good quality receivers with decent height as well with differing skill sets. I can actually see Quan West being used like a Flex TE.

I actually like the idea that we did not take a RB or a TE just for the sake of taking one. Burning a schollie on guys you don't want or that don't fit is not a good idea IMO. We have a good stable of RB's. And a decent group of TE's for now. But those 2 positions are now a position of need next year for our team so I look for at least 2 RB's in next years class. And possibly 2 TE's.

I think the excitement isn't quite there just because this class has been generally wrapped up for some time. There were a couple of defections late, and a few guys that decided late but for the most part the class was settled. So I think that might be the lack of excitement, just knowing what were getting for so long.

Very excited with the class, but as burn587 said, it was pretty much settled. The random surprise is always nice, especially if you are a recruiting junkie who planned on watching signing day coverage.

It's a really good class... time will tell but it may be the best class I can remember. As a group they're bigger and more athletic than we've had in the past. I'm really excited about this group!

A lot of development guys. No one that will make an immediate impact. Lets just hope they pan out or 3 years later we will be saying bust.

Looks to me that we got a lot of our early targets. Would have been nice to get more of our "wish list" player. All in all it looks good.

On paper it wasn't a good day..... relative to our competition in the B12 and Iowa. Nothing new there.

In reality, just like all recruiting classes and every team in the country, we really won't know for 2-3 years. The coaches will have a lot better idea, this time next year though what this class is all about.

I agree that not many of these guys will see significant time right away. To me this is as much a testament to our depth/quality of existing players as it is a "lack" of an immediate impact player.

One thing I would add is that a couple of these DBs have a shot at significant playing time with Benton and LJ leaving.

I really like the size of the WR and DBs. To see 60 + WR and DBs is awesome, if they are as productive as some of the smaller guys that we have/had on the roster we are in for a treat.

Im a big fan of OL Williams and I am looking forward to watching Bevins (full disclosure hes a Creston Cronie)

Its beyond pride. Its a restored trust. Theres a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State it factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the mans enthusiasm is genuine to the core...
