A way too early discussion of recruiting needs for MBB

So what are everyone's thoughts on where we go with the next recruiting class in MBB (2013 class)?

We know for sure we lose the following after next season:

    Clyburn 2/3
    Lucious 1
    Babb 3
    Booker 4
    McGee 2

In all likelihood we probably lose Royce (4) and there have been a lot of rumors about Sledge (1) and Railey (5). Between those three we almost for sure lose Royce and one other. That would mean probably filling 7 spots (possibly 8). Of course if Sledge or Railey left after this year, we could find a late signee for next year.

    We are bringing in:

    Long 1
    SDW 2
    Okoro 3
    Niang 4

IMHO, we really need to find some post players ASAP, because all that you're left with after Royce and Booker depart are Gibson, Niang and Ejim.

Hopefully we sign at least 2 bigs in the coming year and 2-3 wings to go along with them. The remaining spots can go to guards.

Clearly this discussion hinges on a lot of outcomes depending on who leaves/stays and how our incoming guys turn out when they're on campus.

Since next year could be such a big class in terms of numbers, I wouldn't be surprised to see pick up another transfer if a scholarship opens up, for someone to sit in 2012-13 and play the following year.

Also very likely that we'll take at least one Juco next year. Probably a post that can play immediately.

And this is exactly why we need to show some success in post season this year. It makes recruiting a lot easier.

CFH HMagic bball season next year.
Let my Fred's Four Horsemen ride: Georges, Hogue, Nader, and McKay.

Agreed and I think this was Fred's plan all along. I don't think Fred will have a problem taking another transfer or two in the next couple years if we need it, but I'm sure he hopes eventually he doesn't have to rely on that route very often.

All of these transfers leaving in the same year will create quite a gap however, and Juco/transfers might be needed to fill in a couple spots.

I would think after we win the Tournament next season we would have our choice at recruits.

I think we need to recruit another piano player with huge hands from MSP area who likes music and plays bball on the side and who can dunk through people.

Pretty sure Fred will take a transfer here and their. He won't go transfer crazy like the last few years.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

That is my biggest concern for 2013-14 and beyond. That season could very well be a year where "we take our lumps" based on how few returning players we'll have.

The nice thing about basketball is all it takes if finding 1 big time player ala Royce to change things around.

Here's a 2014 big that we've seen recently as just reported by Alex Kline - 6' 8" PF Chris McCullough: Recruit Lists McCullough, Chris

I'll say it again, we haven't even offered Nerlens Noel.

I would take 3 guards and 2 posts. You can always have a guard like Babb play the wing, and we already have Okoro. Actually, I would be in favor of grabbing transfers at both spots this off-season.
