    Royce White getting NBA attention

I know a lot of fans on here know more than most NBA scouts so I'm sure they are wrong but there is an ESPN insider blog about how he is jumping up many peoples boards. They love his versatility (obviously). There just aren't many guys his size with his skill set.

Re: Royce White getting NBA attention

I hope he sticks around one more year too....selfishly for ISU, but also for him. I think if he develops under FH for one more year he can be a lottery pick. I would hate to see him leave early and then not succeed. I'm pretty confident that FH will give him good advice, and whatever that is, I hope Royce listens.

Re: Royce White getting NBA attention

Is there a more versatile player who means more to his team this season than Iowa State's Royce White? Take a look at the stats and you'll see that White leads the Cyclones in just about everything: points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals (tied with Chris Babb).

Why do we bring this up? Because what this could mean is White's stay in Ames may not last long. ESPN's NBA draft insider Chad Ford writes that the versatility of the 6-foot-8, 250-pound forward is a major draw that is starting to earn praise among NBA scouts.

White is currently ranked No. 62 on Ford's Big Board, but one only has to look at the 2011 NBA draft to see how coveted "versatility" is by NBA teams. Iman Shumpert led Georgia Tech in all five major categories last season before being drafted No. 17 overall by the New York Knicks.

It was a widely criticized move at the time, and yes Shumpert and White play different positions, but I have to think that Shumpert's early success as a pro can only help White's draft stock.

Re: Royce White getting NBA attention

Is there really a position for him in the NBA though? There is such a huge emphasis on being able to shoot. I'm just not sure how he would fit in. Obviously he can work on things and get better at stuff like shooting, ball handling, and defense but it will be really interesting to see how his game translates.

Re: Royce White getting NBA attention

If I had to guess, I'd say he'll give it one more year and then make the move. However, I'm afraid that his name could get very hot towards the end of this year if he continues to dominate as he has been.

Exactly think about him Lucious, Babb, Clyburn, Ejm, Okoro, Niang etc. We'd be looking at a big 12 champ. caliber team and best ISU team since 99-00

Wait a minute ... didn't I read in another thread that NBA scouts don't like White's game? :wide-eyed:

    Who should I believe?

It may make a difference that this draft class is pretty loaded.

One more year, please!! As good as we have been lately, next year will be a whole different level if Royce stays.

Re: Royce White getting NBA attention

he definitely needs to develop a 17-22ft shot before he is ready for the league. A year or two more for him in ames and he would be lottery material. imso(in my selfish opinion)

Re: Royce White getting NBA attention

What do I know, but it seems to me he doesn't have an NBA jump shot....or free throw; I think he could benefit from another year, or two.

Re: Royce White getting NBA attention

He's not desperate enough to leave already. Meaning, if he stayed at ISU next year and blew out a knee, he's still intelligent enough to make a great living doing something else. He's not a D student baller with absolute no other marketable ability.
