Last night reminded me of 2000

we got to a point in the game that our defense said "sorry KSt you're done". We outrebounded the most physical team we'll see this year in the second half. After Scotty drew the charge KSt's offence looked lost.

You are right, except Melvin drew the charge that fouled out their pg

Re: Last night reminded me of 2000

The defensive intensity from both teams last night was extremely high. It came down to they didn't have anyone that could matchup with Royce.

The best way to contain him would be some kind of light to medium full court pressure falling back to some kind of zone. BUT...you can't do that against us because we can destroy teams with the 3 ball. So were good :)

You are right re: the mental toughness on defense to close out games. The biggest difference, of course, is us not having a Tinsley. On the other hand, Royce compensates for that a bit with his ball handling/passing. It'll be fun to see how far they progress this season and I'm totally amped about next season.

Imagine if we played with that amount of intensity the entire game, every game.

The crowd really helped them get back in this game. This team last night did not start to feel sorry for themselves and start jacking up shots... instead they picked it up on the defensive end. Good to see the team play with some pride!

I love the fact that K-State dictated the tempo and for the most part we outplayed them at their own game when it mattered most.

We found a little offense late, and they had no answer. Also at that time, we buckled down on D and didn't give up any easy buckets. That was the only reason they led in the first place. We were playing great D for most of the possession and then would have a brain fart that would allow a lay up.

Not only that, but KState has the depth to have fresh legs. They play hack everyone and we still beat them.

Thats how those "grind it out" offenses work. Tough to defend for a full 35 seconds.

Their D looked very tough. Amazing win. I still can't figure out how the Cyclones won especially considering how they seemed to be nailing their 3s.

Glad to see that SC raised his defensive prowess in the last five minutes since he was supporting Royce as pooint gaurd most of the game. The first half blowbys were a problem.

Hopefully we can keep up that defensive intensity the rest of the year
