First USAToday bubble watch: ISU in, Big 12 6 bids

Bubble Tracker: Big Ten gets most bids, Pac-12 gets one – USATODAY.com

The Cyclones sneak into the field because of their surprising win over Kansas on Saturday, a victory that prompted fans to rush the court. A win over Kansas State this week would help solidify Iowa State's spot in the field.

Notice we are not the only team with a "worst loss" being Drake. I think people will realize it isn't bad at the end of the year.

6 bids from the Big 12 is huge. We just gotta keep working to stay in top 4 or 5 of conference.

UNI still has a pretty high RPI considering how poorly they have been playing lately. But I'm about ready to put our home loss to UNI above the road loss to Drake in the "worst loss" category. Drake has been playing very well lately with taking down Wichita and playing Creighton hard. UNI can't seem to beat anybody in the Valley except Drake.

How is Florida on the bubble???

And I love this talk of one bid from the PAC-10. Losers, just like in football.

I've already made the switch. Drake isn't a bad loss to me anymore. It's just a loss that ticks me off since I spent the money to go watch that mess.

But we're not the same team now, and things look very good.

It doesn't matter if we think a loss to Drake and UNI isn't bad. I promise you, the rest of college basketball looks at those two games has bad losses. Beating KU was huge but ISU still needs to beat Baylor or Missouri to solidify a spot in the tournament.

********. Neither of them are truly bad teams, and games in early December deservedly get about 1/4 the weight of conference games. I remember a few years ago when UNC dropped their opener to some podunk school like Santa Barbara, and people were dogging them about it this time of year, too...and they went on to win the title.

The losses to Drake and UNI don't mean nearly as much as you think. If I were on the selection committee, I'd be more concerned with how we played against Mississippi Valley State; even though we barely won, it was an awful game against an awful team.

    FIFY

To clarify, if you had actually read the article, you would know that a "bad loss" is deemed as a loss to a team not in the top 100 teams. Neither Drake nor UNI fit that bill at the moment, therefore ISU does not have a "bad loss" on it's record. I'm not saying those losses are helpful, especially considering how pathetic I think our nonconference schedule was (apparently not as bad as K-States, however). But as of right now college basketball experts aren't thinking those losses are as bad as ISU fans think they are. Must be a "pride" thing...

MVSU hasn't lost since. Unless they lost this weekend, they're undefeated in their conference.

I think that game looks better than the UNI game. MVSU hit us as they started to peak and we looked right past them. They're making that game look better. UNI's collapse makes that game worse right now.

They are "bad" in comparison to other Division 1 teams, but they are undefeated in their conference.
