    Iran, Republicans, and Nukes

In tonights Republican debate the candidates were asked if they would, as president, take military action to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon without seeking the authority of Congress.

Mr. Romney, answered first and responded, “We’re going to let the lawyers sort out what he needed to do and what he didn’t need to do, but certainly what you want to do is to have the agreement of all the people in leadership of our government, as well as our friends around the world where those circumstances are available,”

    What the you know what?

Not his strongest answer. Nobody answers these questions better than McCain. Eveyone else seemed to basically answer it well enough... do what you need to do to ensure the security of the nation, unless you have enough time and have the luxury of bringing Congress in on the decision..... Except Ron Paul who thinks Iran is puppydogs and cupcakes and poses no threat - either overt or covert - to anybody.

That is my one major sticking point with Ron Paul. It sounds all well and good on paper to just let the world do it's thing while we do ours, but eventually, the problems are much bigger when you actually have to deal with them.

I know they were having trouble hearing the moderators. I wonder if he misunderstood the question. To me, going to the lawyers in that situation sounds like "can I get away with doing it my way." I don't like that in my politician.

I loved the law and order joke though. I wonder how long he'd been waiting to whip that one out.
