    Kansas Vs ISU halftime

My first thread I've started. You may have a card and towel on your seat when you get to Hilton on Sat for the game. Take a look!! Sukup Manufacturing, who has the practice basketball arena named after them and also donated a bunch of money for the Jumbotron is an Iowa company. One thing they make is steel bins for grain storage. They also have another side to their business. They have come up with using the same materials to build cheap housing, that is easily transported and then put together on site. They are working with Our former pastor who does world wide ministries. (Global Compassion Network). Pastor Terry Baxter and the group is first working on a village in Haiti. The housing is for widows and orphans and homeless. Actually the buildings can be various sizes for homes, schools, orphanges, hospitals and clinics, churches. After this protype is going well, this will expand worldwide as there is much interest. The primary reason is cost is a fraction to build compared to other structures and also the buildings are much more stable, and they are much easily portable by plane or other ways. The Iowa Soybean Assoc is also involved in this project. At halftime we will be in the rotunda receiving donations. If you feel so moved please give as this is a very worthy cause. Buildings could even help the homeless in this country. If you want more information that certainly is available.
Thanks so much for the help and blessings to you and yours.

    Cheap, high quality jerseys?

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

Excellent cause and a neat story. I've heard this talked about at length on the Jan Mickelson show.

Also took the liberty of editing your post in the quote- it's a lot easier to read (and you'll get more people to read it) when there is some spacing. And this story definitely should be read.

INteresting. I always thought a person could live in a grain bin. Really.

Well, they can - if there's no grain in it...

    Re: Kansas Vs ISU halftime

A long time ago, back when I was a student at ISU, there was a set of 2 or 3 apartments just north of the Towers on Storm Street that were called the "bins", and were built from grain bins. Not sure if they still exist or not, but they were pretty unique. At that time, some of the tech crew from the Iowa State Center lived there.....in fact they were occupied by tech staff for several years. The story back then was they were designed by an ISU architecture student as a class project.

Like I said, I am not sure if they are still there. This sounds like an interesting and worthwhile project.

I never was in them, but I heard all about the grain bins. Apparently they had a couple of line sets in them and would occasionally have a scene change during parties.

I've always wondered how those came about..
And yes, I drove by them last year and they were still there.
